The product, in the report: Troy-Bilt TB80 EC 2-cycle trimmer
I purchased a new Troy-Bilt TB80 EC 2-cycle Trimmer August 26, 2011.
On my first use I found that the design resulted in my right forearm resting on the top of the engine housing. I tried adjusting the position of the D-handle. That did not fix the problem.
The engine housing, after just a few minutes use, is hot enough to burn my arm.
I sent an E-mail to Troy-Bilt requesting help. The Troy-Bilt Question Reference # is [REDACTED]. Troy-Bilt responded 9/9/11 as follows:
“For liability reasons, we are not permitted to assist customers with unapproved modifications that have not been tested and approved by our Safety and Compliance Department. If you wish to perform any such alterations or modifications, you will need to do so without our approval. Your understanding is appreciated.”
The trimmer present a burn hazard.
