The product, in the report: Serial # 10320N301828 Weed Eater Gas Trimmer sold for $65.00 family/Disp for 2010 US EPA/California small off engine road
gas trimmer heats up, smokes and is capable of causing a fire in dead grass. It was repaired once and was not fixed. It did the same thing. Repairman said it was a piece of junk and proceeded to try to sell a mote expensive one. In the past I have used one just like this for several years. Called company and they said it was a bearing that was put on wrong at the base of the shaft near the head. Company also reported they had several reports of the problem from others. Mine could not be fixed, or repairman didn’t want to be bothered.

No one hurt Made Jul 6, 2011, published by CPSC Jul 28, 2011
The product, in the report: Poulan 2-stroke gasoline weedtrimmer Model FL26
Gas lines failed on weed trimmer (Poulan FL26) due to break down in the gas line fittings dissolving in gasoline. This is a fire and explosion hazard that could result in serious injury or death to the user if this occurs during operation or filling of gas tank.
Upon examination of the 3 part gas line system (2 lines that pass through the gas tank, 2 double male fittings inside the tank, two sleeves to retain the fittings), it was noted that the sleeves dissolved and failed.
Solution: Recall of all Poulan weed trimmers with this design to repair this problem. A redesigned gas tank with two nibs extending outward from the tank eliminating the fittings inside the tank. These could be similar to commonly used designs that have flared ends to secure the gas lines.
