The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Husqvarna 223L string trimmer

I purchased a Husqvarna string trimmer model 223L. During the normal process of using the product, my forearm was constantly being burned by the exhaust/muffler. I went to the Husqvarna web site and there is a customer forum which lists several customers that are having the same problem. One response from Husqvarna basically said, quit “it wasn’t designed as an arm rest”. I can assure you, it’s not a matter of resting your arm on the trimmer, it naturally comes in contact with the muffler/exhaust area as you move the trimmer.

The product, in the report: Trimmer

The caller stated that his trimmer has the same hazard as the ones included in recall #12-141. The caller’s model # matches recall #12-141, however the serial # falls out of recall range.

The caller stated that the fuel leaks profusely from the fuel tank. The fuel stops leaking once the tank is half empty.

The caller stated that he pulled his trimmer apart but he is unable to figure out where the fuel is leaking from.

The caller contacted the manf. They informed him that his trimmer is not a part of any recalls. They did not offer any other assistance.

The caller stated that the issue might have been present since he purchased the trimmer. He purchased a used trimmer from an online site.

The product, in the report: String trimmer, gasoline powered

I have a Husqvarna 128LD string trimmer. The gas tank leaks at the cap. The cap has never sealed correctly.

I called the company to see what could be done e.g. send me a replacement gas cap. They said that it was a warranty matter, not a safety matter.

Because I bought this item about a year ago, it is surely out of warranty. But it’s a safety issue, not a warranty issue.

The product, in the report: Husqvarna String Trimmer Model 122C serial number 2011 11 02056 9667127 01

Gasoline began running out of the back of the Husqvarna Model 122C string trimmer when filled with gasoline with no reason (had not been dropped or otherwise hit to cause leak.) Immediately emptied tank and took to the local Husqvarna service dealership, Wilson County Farmer’s Co-Op. Tank was found to have a hairline crack at the mounting hole nearest the filler tube. Tank was replaced at owner’s expense to make trimmer serviceable.

The product, in the report: Husqvarna model 2231 string trimmer used to trim lawn

I purchased a Husqvarna model 2231 string trimmer in April 2013 and the first time I used it I burned my right arm where it touches the power head. I have placed a towel around my arm to finish my trimming. I have contacted Husqvarna and have taken back to my dealer and he took a part of off and old one and I am going to use it tomorrow to see if it is fixed. The others in the market place need fixing. I do have a scar on my arm. Is this repair authorized by Husqvarna?
