    The product, in the report: Green Hitachi (Koki) Grass Trimmer CG 22EAB (SLP)

    My Hitochi Weed Trimmer wouldn’t shut off, because the switch was bad. The company representative said that the item could be replaced, but that first it should be repaired, because it wouldn’t ever fail again. If it would happen to fail again I was to call back. It has failed and now Hitochi won’t replace the item, nor repair the item, nor give any money back for the malfunctioning equipment. I ended up getting a slight burn on my hand, because the item had to be held until the fuel ran out, so that the wouldn’t have any more problems and it was very, very hot.

    Hitachi Trimmer: Model: CG22EAB(SLP) Serial #: J900237

    This trimmer is involved in a recall. In April of 2014 I called Hitachi and requested that my trimmer be repaired. I was never sent a return box. I recently received a notice of recall for this trimmer from Sears. Hitachi’s phone number for the recall does not work. I am not supposed to use this trimmer, but Hitachi seems to be unwilling to comply with the recall. The muffler gets very hot on my unit and will burn your arm while using the trimmer.

    The product, in the report: Grass trimmer/brush cutter Hitachi model CG 22EAB(SLP) serial # J100659

    Brand new weed wacker Hitachi model # CG 22EAB(SLP) serial # J100659. While using weed wacker after 1/2 hr of use smell of burning plastic came from housing. Shut off unit and observed that the area of the housing containing the engine where the shaft enters had melted resulting in a circular crack around the shaft. I brought the unit to the certified Hitachi repair shop where it remains. Don’t know why the housing melted don’t know what would have happened if I hadn’t shut the unit down when I smelled the odor of the melting plastic. My concern is as a result of the plastic melting could the shaft have come lose, could the unit have caught fire.
