The product, in the report: The products being sold on Amazon are string trimmer head attachments using chain cutters. Search [REDACTED] or Amazon for “Chain Trimmer Head” or similar search terms. Seller product name examples are “[REDACTED]” or “FJSa 65Mn Lawn Mower Chain Grass Trimmer Head Chain Brush Cutter.”
No current incident. I am reporting this because I see Amazon is selling a product nearly identical to the “[REDACTED]” recalled in May 2000. This was announced by CPSC on 5-3-2000 after the death of a child and other unreported injuries (release [REDACTED]). The products being sold on Amazon are string trimmer head attachments using chain cutters. Search [REDACTED] or Amazon for “Chain Trimmer Head” or similar search terms. Seller product name examples are “[REDACTED]” or “FJSa 65Mn Lawn Mower Chain Grass Trimmer Head Chain Brush Cutter.” Please ensure these are not sold before someone gets injured or dies. Many trimmer models spin at 8,000 RPM or more that can throw shrapnel at nearly 350 feet per second (239 MPH).
