The product, in the report: The product is a small air pump included with a camping mattress. The pump itself drops into a slot in the mattress during use. It’s a medium gray in color, roughly 3.5”x1.75”x1.76”. I have two different mattresses from the same company, and thus two pumps. I do not know which one the pump went up in flames came with, as they are identical. One was purchased on April 11th, 2025 and the other November 6th, 2024. I have the other pump intact.
While charging the battery in this air pump from a USB-C wall charger, the battery caught fire. I was not home at the time when this happened. While it thankfully only damaged some items on my desk, it could have very easily spread to the entire apartment building.
