The product, in the report: Leaf blower
Caller is reporting that while using the leaf blower and approximately 10 mins later she heard an explosion. The back of the blower exploded and became a projectile hitting her on the left hand. The impact broke her ring finger. She went to the urgent care at Total Access in MO where she received treatment and released for follow up with physician.
Caller stated that the manufacturer and she was advised that they could provide $500 for compensation. However, she denied the offer because she did not know what her medical expenses would be.
Caller feels that this leaf blower is a safety hazard and should be recalled before other consumers are seriously harmed.

The product, in the report: Weed eater brand Ground Sweeper 2510 leaf blower, electric
On Feb. 12, 2019 my 78 year old mother went into her garage, plugged in a Weed Eater brand electric leaf blower to blow the driveway off. She plugged the unit in, turned on the power switch on the leaf blower and it literally exploded in her hands causing lacerations and trauma to her right hand. She quickly went to her doctor who referred her to have x rays done at a nearby imaging facility. The doctor thought the hand could be broken due to the extent of the swelling and bruising. My mother followed all the safety precautions. The unit is stored in a dry, closed indoor storage room off the garage when not in use. She was not using an extension cord or anything out of the ordinary. The fan wheel of the blower burst through the side of the blower, shattering the plastic motor housing. The fan blade struck my mother in the hand causing bruising bleeding and swelling.

Hurt, no treatment Made Dec 17, 2014, sent to the company Dec 29, 2014, published by CPSC Jan 13, 2015
The product, in the report: Electric leaf blower / vacuum combination. The unit can be configured either as a leaf blower, or as a leaf vacuum in which the leaves are sucked up, shredded, and blown into an attached bag. The unit claims to blow air at a speed of 215 MPH.
I have used this electric leaf blower/vacuum for several years to vacuum leaves around shrubs and other things in the landscape of my home. This past weekend, while using the unit in the vacuum configuration, it picked up a stone (which is impossible to avoid when working around a large yard) and it THREW THE STONE THROUGH THE HOUSING OF THE UNIT AND INTO MY BODY AT HIGH SPEED. The stone made a jagged hole about 1-2 inches across in the plastic body of the leaf blower - it went right through, and hit me in the hip. It was quite painful, but I am lucky - I would likely have suffered a very serious injury if it had been thrown into my face. No product intended to vacuum around landscaping in a yard should EVER be designed such that it fails like this if it picks up something as common as a stone. It certainly should NEVER endanger the person who is using it.

The product, in the report: Weed Eater Leaf blower. Green in color.
While using this Weed Eater Brand gas powered blower, the rubber mountings for the handle broke and caused me to drop the blower. I wasn’t hurt but it did damage the blower and I had to replace the fuel cap. Now I can’t use it till I find out how to get it repaired.
