Made May 17, 2019, sent to the company Jun 3, 2019, published by CPSC Jun 17, 2019

The product, in the report: Troy Bilt Leaf Blower 69dB(A), 450 CFM/240mph

I was blowing leaves off the paved driveway and my electric Troy Bilt leaf blower exploded. The leaf blower was less than one year old. It suddenly exploded with a deafening explosion It blew off a piece of plastic housing that we have been unable to find. Also, the internal propeller blew out. (See photo). I researched online to find answers to why this happened and found this news item from 2013 in Houston describing the identical incident. It was fortunate that I was not hit by the projectile as was the woman in this news item.

Had I not found this news item I would have thrown the blower away and bought a new gas blower instead. However, now I realize this is is a faulty design of the Troy Bilt leaf blower and want to protect future consumers of this product.
