The product, in the report: Yard-Man by MTD Electric Mulching Blower/Vacuum

Was using me electric leaf blower the other day when I smelled a burning smell. I noticed there was a bit of smoke coming by the plug in area where my 100 ft. outdoor extension cord was plugged in. I turned the blower off and noticed that the plug in was now melted as well as my extension cord end was melted as well. I inspected the cord and could find no other problems with it, ie. cuts or abrasions that would cause the cord to short out. This is the second time that this has happened to me with virtually the same model and brand of leaf blower. This model is a MTD Yard-Man model #YMESV1300 my previous model was a Ryobi (made by MTD) model #RESV1300. The Ryobi melted the plug on my extension cord so bad that I could not unplug the plug from the extension cord. This time when I smelled the burning smell I unplugged it in time to prevent this from happening. However the damage has been done to both the blower and the cord, rendering them both useless. The right side of the plug in on the blower appears to be the burnt side. Since this has happened to me twice with the the exact same product, I searched the government recall site to see if there was a recall on this product, but could not find one. I feel that there should be as I can’t believe that I am the only one that this has happened to and this product is still available for sale.
