The product, in the report: Red Homelite Electric Blower Vacuums 12 Amp, 2 speed Model # UT42120 Store SKU # 111604 at Home Depot
I had a Homelite Electric Blower Vacuums that was under recall. I completed the recall process - sending the bad unit back and receiving a new Homelite Electric Blower Vacuum.
Today I used the new unit for the first and only time. With less than 10 minutes of use -blowing - the unit smelled bad and slowed down. After a moment’s break I resumed blowing.... when I looked at the unit I could see substantial (!) Sparking inside the plastic housing! I immediately turned it off and unplugged the unit. It was warm/hot to the touch. Smelled like burning plastic.
I let it cool off.
I returned the unit to my local Home Depot and bought a different brand.
This was the replacement unit. Is it too defective in, perhaps, a different way?!
It was an alarming experience.
Thank you and.... May the Gov’t shut down end soon! [REDACTED]
