No one hurt Made May 28, 2026, sent to the company Jun 3, 2026, published by CPSC Jun 17, 2026
The product, in the report: Greenworks leaf blower and 80 W lithium battery Its green and black large in size
I placed greenworks blower and lithium battery in my trunk to bring home, it had not been used that day it was not hot and my trunk was not hot. My drive home is 1 minute from where I was coming from. I parked got my dogs out, my purse and bag left car door open went inside to put dogs in and my stuff down. Was going back out to get stuff out of trunk and my car had smoke coming out the door that was open and trunk, I popped the trunk after it had made a loud popping noise and then a loud boom noise and flames shot out of my trunk. My car was on fire at that point with blower and battery in it. I grabbed the hose since it was closest to me and started putting fire out. As there is power lines directly above my car and a big tree. Called fire dept they came and inspected with thermal and stated the battery was the cause of fire. I have documentation, photos , videos and surveillance footage from my camera that looks right where my car is parked.

The product, in the report: Electric blower
10/31/2021: The consumer plugged the blower in to an electric cord and turned it on. Immediately, large sparks began to spew from it and there were electrical arcing noises. He quickly turned it off and unplugged it from the outlet. There was no property damage.
He’s never had any prior problems with the blower.
11/2/2021: The consumer called the manufacturer, Tel: 888-909-6757, but they referred him to Tel: 833-211-9185. The rep. at the last number initially told the consumer that they did not have any blower recalls, but did have pressure washers recalled. The consumer advised him to check the Internet, which he did. Once the rep. saw the blower recall, he then referred the consumer to CPSC.

No one hurt Made Sep 12, 2020, sent to the company Oct 15, 2020, published by CPSC Nov 10, 2020
The product, in the report: Corded leaf blower.
I was using a Greenworks 24012 leaf blower using a 16-gauge extension cord and it caught fire. The spec of the blower is 120V, 7A. Thought was a defective cable.
Happened a 2nd time yesterday (9/11/2020). Measured the resistance using a multi-meter, it was below 6 ohm, therefore, there was over 20 A of electricity flowing through, therefore the cable caught fire.

No one hurt Made Aug 3, 2015, sent to the company Aug 11, 2015, published by CPSC Aug 25, 2015
The product, in the report: GreensWorks 3-in-1 blower, mulcher, and vacuum. The blower has 2 settings, low and high. An attachment was included for the vacuum that is added to the bottom of the unit. A bag for the leave/mulch came with the product as well.
Recently I was using the blower to sweep my backyard when I started to smell smoke. I looked around thinking it was something nearby but nothing. The smell persisted so I looked at the blower and could see it smoking. I immediately stopped using it and when I attempted to remove the extension cord it was melted onto the prong.
