The product, in the report: Echo Back Pack blower model PB-5810T

Echo back pack blower fuel leak outside of your current recall parameters. I purchased this blower on 1/18/2025. I removed it from the box, completed the assembly per the instructions. I filled it with fuel and started to use it. about 7-8 minutes in my left leg began to feel cold. I took the blower off my back and found that my shirt and left pant leg were covered in fuel. I checked the cap and noticed the leak was above the fuel tank and coming from near the carb area. I checked the lines and saw i was leaking in the fuel line area. I stopped using it and went online to see where I could take it for warranty repair and found the recall notice for the same model and the same concern. It is out of the serial range and production date but has the exact same issue.

The product, in the report: backpack blower

The consumer has a safety concern about the product because it has the same hazard as the Echo backpack blowers that were recalled in 2012. The serial number on the consumer’s backpack is not included in the recall.

The consumer stated that he noticed that fuel was leaking in between the carburetor and the fuel tank about a month ago. He googled the model number of the backpack on line and saw that there was a recall.

The product, in the report: Echo PB-265LN Backpack Leaf Blower

Echo PB-265LN Backpack Leaf Blower fuel line detaches from unit when running due to vibration and spills gasoline down my back which can be a fire and personal injury risk.

There is a tube that runs from the gas tank to the bulb pump. On the 2nd season this tube began detaching. It is just slid in to each side and is not fastened well and may be cut too short. It becomes detached when engine is running. I have fastened with a mini clamp to hold in place but that no longer is holding.

When calling Echo they say there is no recall on the model even though I see a recall for the exact issue on the same model without the L on the end of the model number. When looking at the pictures it is the same design and issue.

The product, in the report: Leaf blower

Consumer is reporting that he experienced similar problems with his backpack blower as recall #12-118. Hazard: The fuel line between the fuel tank and carburetor could have been damaged during assembly leading to fuel leakage, posing a fire hazard.

Consumer stated that this incident has been occurring since the first use. He has repaired it but that did not resolve the issue. He contacted the company and was advised that the unit was not included in a recall and could assist him.

Consumer feels that his blower should be included in a recall.

The product, in the report: Echo Backpack Blower, Model PB 265L

My Echo blower model # PB 265L has serial #P07811017976, which I noticed is just outside the recall range for this model. My blower has two problems

    1) I noticed the long time problem shortly after purchasing the unit and it occurs when being stored. The gas reservoir pressurizes with increased temperatures, does not have a pressure relief, gas flows up a tube and out through the air filer resulting in a puddle of flammable gasoline.

    2) The second problem started the last time I tried to use the blower. When pulling on the starter rope, the unit began to make a really loud clunking noise. I also noticed there was fuel on the muffler. This may be related to additional fuel in the carburetor and cylinder.

Although my unit is not included in the recall, I believe it should be. Please advise.

    Thanks!

The product, in the report: Backpack Leaf Blower

This caller purchased his backpack leaf blower September 24th, 2009 and has had no problems with it until the past month or two when he began noticing that his pants were slightly wet when he finished working with it.. He thought that he was perspiring on his pants until he began smelling gas also.

He checked and found that the gas is leaking from the unit but he is not quite certain where. If he turns it over and shakeit then it isn’t leaking.

    There have been no injuries

The caller has contacted the manufacturer and was advised that this serial number is not recalled.

Was told by Echo how to repair the Back Pack Blowers that were on recall. The consumer got the part and had it fixed since he needed to keep his drive way and yard nice. Thanks.

After about 6 hours of use, fuel was found to be leaking over and around the fuel tank, some leaking down onto my shirt. Investigation showed that the fuel return line from the priming bulb to the top of the fuel tank had pulled out of its rubber fitting.
