The product, in the report: 7 ton electric log splitter

This caller is reporting his electric log splitter that was a replacement provided January 2014 for one that he had purchased December 2013 because the motor wouldn’t operate. He didn’t have any problems with this replacement log splitter until December 2014 when during use by the caller the weld of the metal cutting wedge split, distorting the frame and releasing hydraulic oil. The safety situation explained is that if this is a small splitter that seems to have built to 25 tons or more of pressure and if the weld had been damaged the entire seam length then metal could have been thrown through the air and hit, injured or potentially ended the user or observers livelihood. The caller is asking that this log splitter be inspected to identify how this incident happened then recall the product to protect the public.

    There were no injuries
