The product, in the report: Kohler Small Engine for Log Splitter Model SH265
I purchased a CountyLine log splitter a year ago that is powered by a Kohler SH265 small engine. I split one cord of wood with it last fall when it was new, and another cord of wood with it just this week. I changed the oil after 5 hours of use, per the manual. It was then I smelled gas and noticed fuel leaking from the carb bowl, so I tightened it a little thinking that would solve the leak. I then tried to start the engine and I could not pull the starter handle/cord because it seemed like it was seized. I also heard a lot of gurgling but thought nothing of it. The next day I thought I’d try again and rechecked the oil and to my surprise gas came out the oil fill hole. So now I guess the gurgling was the gas somehow leaking into the oil.
I found this site where I see Kohler has had a recall on these engines. This engine was built on Mar 8, 2018 and just missed the recall, however I feel this engine should be covered as well, as obviously something is terribly wrong.
The Specification is: SH265 - 3011 Serial#: 4906714408
