Hurt, no treatment Made May 29, 2013, sent to the company Jun 6, 2013, published by CPSC Jun 20, 2013
The product, in the report: Huskee 35 Ton Log Splitter Model: 1083946 or 1083954 Made by SpeeCo of Golden, CO
I purchased a Huskee Log Splitter Model 1083946 or 1083954 from my local Tractor Supply Dealer on 4-11-2011 for $1,699.00
On 5-07-2013, I was splitting logs on my pasture when chips fell on the muffler and ignited. They then fell on further chips and debris under the muffler which then caught fire. I was unable to pull the unit away from the burning debris and I had to call the fire department to extinguish the fire. I Injured my right leg and right arm while trying to pull the machine away from the fire.
I called the firm 3-4 times to tell them about the fire and sent them pictures. I explained that it was a poor design which places the muffler directly under where debris from the log splitting process falls directly onto it. They said I was the only known incident like this and refused to replace my log splitter.

The product, in the report: Huskee 22 Ton Log Splitter
Every time I use this gas powered splitter I get headaches and nausea. The exhaust is routed so that it deflects off the frame and then comes right back at the operator.
