The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Corona Essentials Stainless Steel Bypass Hand Pruner with Standard Handle. Grips are red. Intended safety lock is black piece of plastic designed to lock out of the way when using pruner and slid back in to lock after use.

Purchased the Corona Essential Stainless Steel Bypass Hand Pruner BP13623 from Lowe’s on April 13, 2026. I am using them to trim tomato plants, and to harvest peppers and okra. Less than one season and the safety mechanism failed. It started last week when the black safety lock would not stay in place. It moved into locking position if trimming with cutter head angled below the grips. Shortly after the lock failed the soft cast safety lock tang snapped off. The prunes now stay in unlocked, blade exposed position.
