First aid Made Jun 28, 2017, sent to the company Jul 7, 2017, published by CPSC Jul 21, 2017
The product, in the report: Portfolio outdoor post lantern, model 31506SE, Lowe’s item 0109348, with three glass light fixtures.
I purchased a Portfolio outdoor post light #0109348, from Lowes.com. It had 18 side glass panels, and all 18 glass panels were loose. The panels were not properly secured during manufacturing. All of the nuts on the panel retaining rods were loose, and seven of the nuts had actually fallen off into the packaging. This allowed the glass panels to rattle around and chip or crack.
As I unpacked the light fixture, prior to installation, I sliced my left thumb open on a one-inch glass shard that was protruding from the bubble wrap. I could not see the glass shard, and had no reason to expect it prior to examining the light. I have saved the glass shard.
I believe the glass shard chipped off one of the loose glass panels, causing a danger to anyone who tries to unpack or install one of these lights.
I have contacted Lowes several times, but have received little or no cooperation. It appears that the Portfolio lights are made by Lowes or a related company.

Bel Air Lighting – Valencia, California RE: Faulty Outdoor Wall Mount Lantern (THIS A COPY OF THE LETTER I SENT)
Dear Madame or Sir: I am in receipt of your packaging to return the wall mount plates on the 3 light candelabra I purchased in March 2011 from Lowes in Sparks, Nevada; I will follow your instructions and send the delivery next week. Oddly enough, I didn’t and haven’t had any issues with the recalled lights but I’m afraid the enclosed product is the light that doesn’t work and is the product which started my investigation with the recalled lights. This light started blinking on and off as if it were a security lamp and actually sparked out when I tried to replace the light bulb thinking a faulty bulb was the problem. The arch was about 12 inches long and almost knocked me off the step-stool I was on. You can see a blackened area in the bulb receptacle indicating a problem there and may want to investigate further to see if there is another area of concern. These lamps may also have a recall issue. I ordered a replacement from Lowe’s on-line which matches (somewhat) the light I am sending to you and have additionally included all the paperwork on the purchases of all 4 items. Please let me know how I am to proceed with this lamp issue. I’d be grateful if you could send an update on the enclosed lamp once you have investigated the problem. I really appreciate your help.
