The product, in the report: A self contained, solar powered, motion detector LED light fixture for outdoor use. It was mounted above the entry door on my pole barn.
The product is a solar powered exterior LED light fixture with Li-ion batteries inside. It was installed for about 1 month on the exterior of a metal covered pole barn. After about a month of use when entering the barn I smelled a strong burning electrical/plastic smell. After checking all interior wiring, I determined the smell was coming from the LED fixture outside above the door. There was scorching of the metal siding of the barn above the fixture and when I unscrewed it from the wall, I found that the plastic of the fixture was melted and that one of the Li-ion batteries had exploded! If the barn had not been made of metal, it probably would have caught fire
