The product, in the report: Made by Gemmy Industries. Product #64085 SW 0418, Batch-SW001. Made in Xiamen, China. Product is a battery operated strobe light. Casing is a silver colored plastic. Dimensions are 3.25”x3.25”x1.5”. www.Gemmy.com
I purchased a battery operated strobe light from Walmart. It is made by Gemmy Industries Corp. Identification numbers on the product are, #64085 & SW0418. It says “batch-sw001, Xiamen, China.
The product comes with batteries, three of them, already installed. I turned the light on and put it in our upstairs attic window. It ran for a day or more until the batteries ran out.
I changed the batteries, two on one side, and one on the other, following the indicated “+” and “-“ signs. It did not seem to work well, so I decided to put different batteries in. All batteries were brand new. The first battery installed, on the “two-battery” side was so hot, I could not hold it. This happened in only about 3 to 5 minutes.
Since these were cheap batteries from the Dollar Store, I decided to buy Energizer batteries and try again. The same thing happened. The first battery on the “two-battery” side became very hot in the first sixty seconds, too hot to hold.
I feel this is a dangerous product that many may not know about. I don’t know why the original batteries, already installed did not react this way.
NOTE: I was “extremely” careful to follow the “+” and “-“ signs when installing the batteries.
