I screwed a 50W ACE Hardware indoor/outdoor halogen floodlight bulb (product # 3067261) into a lamp socket to test it. Immediately there was a flash and a small flame. The socket in the lamp melted/burned, and the incident stopped only because the lamp was plugged into a power strip with a GFI switch.
