The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Toro 22 Recycler Mower.

We purchased a Toro Recycler Mower last year from Home Depot. Right away we noticed mulch, rocks and grass flying out at us from a gap in between the mower and the clippings bag. We notified Toro immediately. They were aware of problem saying a “few” customers experienced this problem. Their repair was a small foam piece that stuck on to the catcher opening and closed the gap between the mower and the bag.

This worked moderately well for a few months, but when the foam compressed, the rocks, mulch and grass came shooting out at us again whenever the mower was in operation. The clippings bag also shoots out grass clippings and dust. It appears as though the weave of the clippings bag is not tight enough, there are numerous holes in the material that allows unacceptable amounts of clippings and dust to be blown out at the user. Its unbearable to use the mower without a mask and eye protection.

Toro will not refund our purchase price and take back the defective and dangerous mower.

We feel this mower should be recalled since their only solution is to send out another foam piece which is temporary at best and does not address the defective clippings bag.

We have seen problems with the Toro recycler mower in the past year that lead to a recall with the blade. We feel this is another issue that warrants a recall on the Toro Recycler Mower.
