No one hurt Made Oct 28, 2024, sent to the company Nov 1, 2024, published by CPSC Nov 18, 2024
The product, in the report: Electric lawn mower, green , battery operated
Lawn mower blade comes loose. I contacted Sun Joe the manufacturer and they state that they can not help me because the lawn mower is out of warranty. The Product is a Sun Joe 24V-X2-17LM electric lawn mower. Serial Number SJ62605. I purchased the lawn mower directly from Sun Joe.
I was looking for a 17 inch replacement blade for the lawn mower and noticed that there was a recall notice from the Consumer Products Safety Commission on this lawn mower. I continually have to tighten the bolt that holds the lawn mower blade onto the lawn mower. I , [REDACTED] was using this product to mow grass on a residential lawn. There has been no injuries from using this lawn mower.

The product, in the report: Sun Joe Model 24V-X2-17LM 17” lawnmower, Serial #0200940000936 - lime green with two 24-volt white & blue batteries and charger, and collection bag.
We purchased this Sun Joe Model 24V-X2-17LM lawnmower, Serial #0200940000936 with battery packs in June 2020. We use it seasonally several times a year. We have had the mower blade come off twice while the mower was running. The second time was June 5th, 2024, and my husband nearly suffered an injury while mowing the lawn. I sent Snow Joe/Sun Joe an email via the recall link, and I have not received a response. I have called the 800 number for the recall, and the number is consistently busy. I want a full refund on this mower and to be assured this is not going to happen to others.

The product, in the report: 17” Sun Joe /Snow Joe cordless mower, yellow/green
While mowing the lawn with the Sun Joe Mower, the bolt became disengaged and the blade came off while in use. I contacted the company about it and requested another bolt. They informed me that there were no extra pieces to send and that I could buy a new bolt at the local hardware store which I did. It was then rescued with the new bolt. Within months the same thing happened. This has continued to occur a minimum of 4 times, luckily with no injuries to date but this could have caused significant lacerations to body parts of the blade was airborne.

The product, in the report: 120 VAC Sun Joe corded electric lawnmower. Light green and black in color. Model number MJ401E
While mowing my 120VAC electric Sun Joe lawnmower the plastic bolt head sheered off and the blade was forcefully thrown from under the mower toward the operator striking the operator’s foot. The operator was a 38 YOM who was wearing safety boots and long pants. No injuries occurred from the event; however, the potential for catastrophic injuries is certainly present.
