The product, in the report: Sears Craftsman lawn mower blade adaptor safety issue. The “star” adaptor has sheared off on 2 of the OEM adaptors I have bought as replacements which eventually ruined my 12 year old mower with same part. So I bought a new Craftsman 37820 163cc 22” Rear Wheel Drive 3-in-1 Lawn Mower with High Rear Wheels on July 12, 2017. I used it twice and on the second use the blade adaptor “star” sheared off and my blade kept spinning after I stopped the mower. I have a 50 x 100 yard, not much to mow! I do have pictures of the defective adaptor part #: Sintergy 581851501 There are numerous reviews on AMAZON.COM about this defective, unsafe product: Craftsman 581473301 Blade Adapter https://www.amazon.com/Craftsman-581473301-Blade-Adapter/dp/B002ESAHGS?tag=vs-home-convert-amazon-20 Thank you. The product, in the report: Walk behind lawn mower
My Craftsman lawn mower model 247.374320 with Kohler engine model XT675-2044 leaks gas where the gas cap meets the gas tank. Gasoline pools on the mower deck posing a fire hazard and leaks onto the lawn which is an environmental concern. Others have reported this same issue according to Sears’ Parts Direct website: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Poulan-Parts/Grass-Line-Trimmer-Parts/Repair-Maintenance/Questions-Answers/Leaking-gas-cap-247374320-Craftsman-Mowe/Model-PP330TYPE1/1324/1503820/399002?modelNumber=PP330TYPE1

The product, in the report: Push type powered lawn mower
The lawn mower is less than one year old. Recently the fuel cap has loosened and fallen off while the mower is in use. This happens repeatedly and if not noticed causes fuel to splash out onto the engine cover. This is a potential fire hazard because the engine is very hot while running. I always tighten the cap but there is no effective locking mechanism to prevent repeated loosening. It did not happen during the first few months of use, but now it happens frequently.

The product, in the report: Lawn mower Serial number: do not have. Put the lawn mower with defective wheel out for trash pick-up. Sears rep also told the consumer that they have no interest in examining the defective wheel. Purchase date: [REDACTED] (best guess) Have you contacted the manufacturer: Contacted Sears via phone and letter. Sear told the consumer not to worry about future customers because this model is no longer being sold. They failed to check if the defective wheel is used on other models. A walk thru the local Sears today, the consumer saw defective wheel on 5 floor samples of mowers up for sale.
Last June I wrote you concerning defective rear wheels on my Sears Model 917-371722 lawn mower. In that letter 1 told you the plastic hubs in the rear wheels crack making the lawn mower unsafe to operate. I just had my fourth wheel fail. This time the wheel failed in a extremely dangerous manner. I was cutting a slope, the wheel on the low side of the mower failed causing the lawn mower deck to flip over exposing the rotating blade. I spoke to several salesmen and managers in one of your stores and they had no interest in listening to my problem. After my fourth wheel failed I called your 1.877.478.4203 number for help. This letter would expand to 5 pages if I was to document all the “[REDACTED]” they told me. I have had this mower since [REDACTED] and this is the fourth rear wheel failure. Any reasonable person would say this this is unacceptable. I am sorry, but I can not believe your store and phone representatives when they say there are no reports failures with the rear wheels on the Model 917-371722 mower. Some of your reps tell me the plastic has been changed in the wheel hub to eliminate this cracking problem. Other reps say there has never been a change to the wheels. I realize you have the right to operate Sears in any manner you choose. My only option is to walk and never go back to Sears again. I choose not to do business with a company which is not honest with their customers. I choose not to do business with a company that is not ethical. I choose not to do business with company who refuses to investigate when a customer notifies them of a safety defect with one of their products. In my opinion you are selling a product that is unsafe to operate. I will be happy to send you the failed fourth wheel, should you wish to investigate this situation further.

The product, in the report: 22” side discharge Sear Lawn Mower
This is my second try at this.
The blade adaptor on my Sears Model 917.385270 625 Series Briggs and Stratton 22” side discharge mower split into tow pieces and one of the pieces was ejected between my legs into the gargae refrigerator. [ I have [REDACTED] pictures of the part and the refrigerator as well as the broken part]
If this broken part has hit me in the leg I feel that I would have sustained a serious injury.
I purchased a repacement part at a Sears Repair Center and noticed that the broken part - #420097 - was replaced by # 418373. The new part appears to be made of a “heavier” metal than the original part.
I do not believe that the blade was over torqued and the mower had not hit any rocks or obstacles the day before to cause thsi fracturing of the blade adaptor.
