No one hurt Made Sep 3, 2016, sent to the company Sep 19, 2016, published by CPSC Oct 6, 2016
The product, in the report: Lawn Boy lawn mower. The mower was purchased from Home Depot and the following is a link to the mower: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Lawn-Boy-21-in-High-Wheel-Push-Gas-Lawn-Mower-with-Engine-10730/204635381 The engine is a Kohler XT-6 which is used on a large number of lawn mowers made by many manufacturers.
Fuel leaks from the filler cap on the engine. The filler neck on the tank is oval shaped. I replaced the gas cap which helped for a short time but it is leaking fuel again. I contacted the manufacturer of the lawn mower, Lawn Boy, who told me to stop using the mower and to contact Kohler, the engine manufacturer. I have tried to contact Kohler but received no response.
The oval shaped filler neck is a defect in manufacturing. The gas cap will not seal properly. This not only is a fire hazard, but is also an environmental problem. Kohler needs to come up with a proper solution as simply replacing the cap has not worked.

The product, in the report: Lawn Boy lawn mower, Model 10247 in great working condition (other than a split plastic gas tank)
Lawn Boy lawn mower - Filled with regular gas - While moving it onto the lawn, the hidden plastic gas tank ruptured spilling most of the tank of gas on the mower and dry lawn. - Had I not noticed a strong smell of gas and checked for a problem, starting the lawn mower could have sparked the gas fumes resulting in injury and fire - Found out online that Lawn Boy had recalled this model of lawn mower - describing the exact product safety problem I encountered - a sudden rupture of gas tank spilling gas - I called Lawn Boy hotline and informed that my serial number had not been recalled so they could not help me
Model number 10247 Lawn Boy Mower - they need to recall the entire series and replace the gas tank before someone is seriously injured.

The product, in the report: Lawn-Boy SilverPro Series Walk-Behind Power Mower
My Lawn Boy gas powered push mower just developed a leak in the gas tank, posing a fire hazard. I have Model #10247, Serial #8911875. Many other Lawn-Boy mowers with the same serial number (10247) have been recalled for this reason. I was told by Lawn-Boy that because my particular serial # was not part of the recall, I will have to pay for any repair. I also see that others have complained of the same problem with the same model/year mower from Lawn-Boy, so obviously the recall should be extended to include older models of 10247. I want Lawn-Boy to pair for the repair of the gas tank.

The product, in the report: Self propelled walk behind lawnmower
The consumer says the fuel tank developed a stress crack. Consequently the fuel leaks out posing a fire hazard.
The consumer contacted the manufacturer yesterday who said that his model is not on recall. They only offered to sell the customer another tank.
The consumer says he removed the tank and replaced it with another tank from the same brand lawnmower but a different model. He says that this tank is now also leaking in the same place.
The consumer is upset with the company who wont own up to there responsiblity. He says there are 25-30 online reports of the same thing happening to other customers.
UPDATE: There is a current recall in effect for leaking fuel tanks on Lawnboy Silver Pro and Gold Pro Series walk behind 21” mowers with the following model numbers- 10247, 10252, 10323, 10324, 10424, 10550, and 10552. why not expand it to all models which use the same fuel tanks? My mower is a Lawnboy, model #10525, and Lawnboy refuses to acknowledge responsibility.

The product, in the report: Lawnmower _ Push w/rear drive
Caller purchased his 21” push lawnmower in October 2003 and it worked fine until approximately two years ago when he noticed that it was leaking the two cycle it burns to run. He looked at the tank but couldn’t find the leak.
He said it runs fine but that it is a fire hazard due to the leaking issue, that he doesn’t place it in his garage unless he drains it completely.
Recently he ran across a notice that model# 10323 was recalled for the problem he is having. He contacted the manufacturer to advise that he has this model, that it is leaking the gas and he would like repair.
However the manufacturer told him that his lawnmower is not one of the recalled because his serial number begins with “23” and not with “21”.
Caller states that his lawnmower is a danger to him or others and that he would like his lawnmower included in the recall then repaired at manufacturer expense.
