No one hurt Made Oct 9, 2019, sent to the company Nov 1, 2019, published by CPSC Nov 18, 2019
The product, in the report: 21” gas lawn mower, self-propelled rear wheel drive
It’s a brand new Husqvarna LC221RH lawn mower. It’s supposed to propel itself when you squeeze the lever on the handle. But mine propels itself even if you’re not squeezing the handle. It’s especially tricky when you start it, because you’ve got only one hand on the handle, and when it catches, it starts to pull away from you. Stopping it is a tricky, and I’m sure pausing to make a turn while mowing is bad too: you’d have to lift the rear wheels all the way off the ground.
Because it’s brand new and still under warranty, I took it to the nearest warranty repair shop (Fillmore Saw in Fillmore, CA). They had it for about a week. They agreed that it was dangerous, that it’s not supposed to do that, but also that there was nothing they could do to fix it. They said everything was within spec. They suggested that maybe after use the belt would stretch enough to slip so it wouldn’t be so aggressive.
I measured the pull -- it’s 8 pounds without even touching the drive lever. I made a video showing the problem. [REDACTED]

No one hurt Made Jun 8, 2017, sent to the company Aug 15, 2017, published by CPSC Aug 29, 2017
The product, in the report: Hu675awd lawn mower
Hu675awd Husqvarna lawn mower leaks gas from the cap, bought and replaced with brand new cap after speaking with Husqvarna rep, issue not resolved since tank shape has warped to an oval shape. Husqvarna rep must have been aware of the tank issue since it is on all review boards for this mower but failed to mention anything about this issue just to sell an additional part. Mower stored in shaded garage between use, warping was caused by regular use of machine. Very dangerous issue

No one hurt Made May 21, 2017, sent to the company May 30, 2017, published by CPSC Jun 13, 2017
The product, in the report: As a result of using the mower as designed, using the reg. unleaded gas, fresh each mowing season, altered only by the addition of STA-BIL - per instructions, the carburetor is destroyed causing gas to leak from around gas cap while motor is running making the mower unsafe to use.
I bought a Husqvarna HU 725AWD, 725 EX push mower 3 yrs ago. I have always put STA-BIL in the gas, have always drained the gas tank at the end of each season before storing. This spring, the mower is leaking gas around the gas cap. The cap is perfect shape, i.e. the gasket is like new, and the cap is correctly and securely. I have replaced the air filter to no avail. I have “Googled” the problem and on numerous discussion boards, I am reading that not only this a VERY common problem, but it is due to ethanol content in the gas we buy - that we have no choice but to buy! Apparently, the ethanol ruins the carburetor. This is unacceptable and must violate consumer protection laws. I know it violates Maine’s Implied Warranty of Merchantability which states when a product is purchased in Maine it must remain free of serious manufacturer’s defects for up to 4 yrs from the original date of purchase. The CSPC must do something about this.

The product, in the report: Walk Behind Lawn Mower (self propelled)
The consumer says that when pushing the mower forward, if you stop and let go of the handle, the back wheels become locked. He is unable to pull it forward or even push it backward.
He was advised by the manufacturer to pick up the back end of the machine, while it was running in order to push it backward. The consumer thought that suggestion was ridiculous.

No one hurt Made Jun 10, 2011, published by CPSC Jul 1, 2011
The product, in the report: Husqvarna HU800HD Rear Wheel Mower
Purchased Husqvarna Rear Wheeled Self Propelled Mower model HU800HW Honda Engine at $399.00 plus tax on or about May 13, 2011.
Returned the mower one week later because the rear wheel were locking, mower could not be pulled backwards, could not be turned. You were actually stuck and had to shut mower down, lift up the mower and turn around.
I returned the mower to Peerless Power Equipment New Fairfield, Ct., they were shocked to find the mower did this and said no one has had this experience, and they had no idea what could be wrong because it was a brand new machine. We, both my self and Peerless discovered that the rubber safety flap would get caught up under the rear wheel and lock the wheels completely. Peerless said the only fix would be to “cut off” half of the rear safety flap. I didn’t want to do this, however, Husqvarna said that is the only way to be able to use it until a “fix” was found.
I hesitantly did what they recommended, the flap was cut in half - I picked up the mower several days later - used it two days ago - June 2nd - the machine is doing the exact same this.
The balance of the safety flap is getting caught under the rear wheels jamming the the machine.
I contacted Husqvarna left a message for a [REDACTED] (no response) I tried to fax Husqvarna [REDACTED] the fax does not work; I called the customers service department, faxed them a letter never heard from them.
Peerless Power Equipment is getting the mower back today June 10th - I am hoping to get a full refund of $423.95 - this is a very dangerous machine and Husqvarna is not responding.
