The product, in the report: Greenworjs
I verified all the information in this timeline using footage from the three [REDACTED] cameras at [REDACTED]. I also checked my memory against what I saw on the cameras. The events began on a quiet Saturday morning, June 20, 2026. At [REDACTED] am, I checked on my mom, who was still asleep in her room. She has Alzheimer’s and lives with me. I spent some time in my room listening to the radio. Through the [REDACTED] camera, I saw my mom enter the living room at [REDACTED] am. At [REDACTED] am, she opened the front door, looked outside, and came back in. The camera did not show any smoke from the soffit vents at that time. At [REDACTED] am, I heard a clear “pop” sound in the living room through the camera. I kept watching my mom on the [REDACTED] camera and turned on the TV for her in the living room at [REDACTED] using the [REDACTED] app. At [REDACTED] am, I went into the living room and noticed a smell of smoke. I immediately began to search for the source of the burning smell. I began searching the house to find the source. I checked the oven, stove, and toaster, but none of them was the cause. After looking in other areas, I opened the garage door and saw a large fire covering a 4-foot-by-4-foot area. I used the garage door opener to open the outer door and closed the steel fire door to the house. I responded right away. I took a fire extinguisher from the kitchen and told my mom to stay in her chair, making sure she had two exits away from the fire. I went to the garage and used the first extinguisher to knock down the fire. Then I used a second extinguisher to reduce it further. I pulled the lawnmower, which was still burning but under control, into the driveway. Next, I took the hose from the side of the house and used it without a nozzle, spraying water until the fire was out. I kept applying water to make sure the fire would not start again. I called my son, who is a [REDACTED] Firefighter, for advice. He arrived at my home immediately and confirmed that the fire was out and that the burned 25-inch 80V mower was outside. He told me to contact my insurance company, [REDACTED], and Greenworks, which I did. As of now, I have not heard back from [REDACTED] about the two batteries in the mower. I knew I had to act fast because if I didn’t put out the fire, the whole house could have burned before the fire department arrived. If I couldn’t put out the fire right away, my backup plan was to evacuate the house and call 911. After checking the [REDACTED] camera footage, there was no visible smoke from the garage soffit vents at [REDACTED] am, but by [REDACTED], significant smoke was coming from the vents and the pop, audible on the living room camera occurred at [REDACTED] am. I am currently working with my homeowner’s insurance, [REDACTED] Insurance (claim [REDACTED], representative [REDACTED]. The logistics and scheduling team at [REDACTED] has also contacted me. [REDACTED] I will do my best to accommodate any your experts for an on-site investigation at your convenience. I hope this timeline and account of the garage fire help explain what happened on the morning of June 20, 2026, at [REDACTED]. Even though this was a serious situation, we were fortunate because it could have been much worse. Thank you, [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Greenworks corded lawnmower 21 inch, 13 Amp. Model 25112.
I purchased a Greenworks corded lawn mower (Model number 25112). I was using it a couple weeks ago and it started smoking from the engine compartment. There was no way to open the engine area so I sawed off the top and the engine area was full of dried grass and other debris. I called the company and they were not concerned about it.

The product, in the report: Cordless Electric Lawn Mowers Recalled Due to Fire Hazard; Made by Hongkong Sun Rise Trading. Green and Block Mower.
I received an email from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission regarding the Cordless Electric Lawn Mowers Recalled Due to Fire Hazard; Made by Hongkong Sun Rise Trading. I purchased one of these mowers August 23rd, 2014 which falls in the date range for the recall. I am concerned at the potential fire hazard that this mower presents. At the time that I received that recall, I had not yet used the mower this season. During the first time using this mower, it remained very hot for much longer than it should have. I removed the battery in an effort to cool the unit down.

The product, in the report: Greenworks G-MAX 40-volt twin force cordless electric push lawn mower Green and black Model # 25302
Within about 30 minutes of use the mower stopped. Usually it runs for longer. When I removed the batteries to recharge them, I noticed they were very hot. When I put the batteries in the charger, the lights on the charger indicated that the batteries were still charged, yet putting them back in the lawn mower did not result in continued operation. Several hours later, after the batteries had cooled, I was able to start the mower again.
