The product, in the report: Toro self propelled lawn mower with Briggs and Stratton 7.5HP engine, model 128M02-0001 manufactured in October 2012.
I own a Toro brand self propelled mower with a Briggs and Stratton 7.25 Hp engine (model #128M02-0001) manufactured in October 2012. The fuel cap is one of three that were used on this model and is a 1/4 turn model ( 957C 591003). I have just ordered my third fuel cap due to the failure of the cap and the prodigious leaking of raw gasoline that results. The cap is the only one of the three for this engine that is unvented, relying on air to come in through where the threads should be. This is a significant safety hazard and the manufacturer, Briggs and Stratton, should be required to replace the cap on all remaining models.

No one hurt Made Nov 5, 2016, sent to the company Nov 15, 2016, published by CPSC Nov 30, 2016
The product, in the report: Briggs and Stratton Engine Model and Type: 122MO2-1619-F1. Push Mower. Model Number 122MO21619. Briggs and Stratton 625e Model 120000 Quantum 625. Engine is on a Poulan push mower
I have a Briggs and Stratton 625e model 120000 Quantum 625 series engine on a Poulan lawn mower. The gas cap leaks. I replaced it with a new Briggs and Stratton gas cap part number 799585 that is identical to the original on the mower at a cost of $12.97. I never fill above the bottom of the fuel tank neck. It still leaks allowing gasoline to seep over the side of the mower. The engine model and type number is 122MO2-1619-F1. Date of purchase is 3-12-2014. The model number is 122MO21619.
I sent an inquiry via e-mail to Briggs and Stratton and was advised they could not help me and referred me to an authorized Briggs and Stratton dealer. I visited with them and showed them the gas cap and explained the problem. They acknowledged it is a problem and had no solution. They agreed the gas cap is a poor product design in that the O ring fails to seal allowing gasoline to leak out of the cap when the engine is vibrating. Their only suggestion was to maybe put a small rubber band under the O ring to tighten the seal.
I feel the leaking gasoline creates a safety as well a a hazmat problem and that Briggs and Stratton needs to address the issue and design a fix as well as offer a free replacement to current Briggs and Stratton Owners.
