  1. No one hurt

Made May 14, 2026, sent to the company Jun 3, 2026, published by CPSC Jun 17, 2026

The product, in the report: Black , Large, 13H x 40W x, 12 D, 2 door, collapsible animal trap, with handles.

I bought a smart catch X live animal trap from Wayfair. It looks like a [REDACTED]. Trap, but less costly, so I bought it. The trap actually has a lot of unsafe features on it. Besides being difficult to put together, there’s an important piece that it’s the trigger to the trap plate that is backwards. It was difficult to figure out to put it together. Because it’s not like the video, it doesn’t look the same. The plate that triggers the door is in the middle. So when triggers the door the animal is not completely in the trap, when the doors come down. Those doors are pretty blunt and can hurt an animal. If it turns around runs back out like they do. There’s so many other protruding parts that don’t make sense that don’t need to be protruding out for the trap to work. It seems that they could really hurt someone. Especially the ones on the top. If someone was to trip, or if an animal was to jump on top of the trap accidentally, or or someone could cut themselves on the side or there’s just too many protruding parts that are unsafe. The one on the side tore my pocket on my pants. The other trip trigger tore my seat. My cat was playing in the trap, and it wasn’t fully set up and the door fell on its tail. I think this trap should be recalled and taken off of the market. They could definitely remove these protruding parts and redesign this.
