The product, in the report: SKIL PWR CORE 40 Brushless 40V 24 Cordless Hedge Trimmer that I purchased on February 20, 2022 [SN: 122042611]
I am writing to formally report a serious safety issue with the SKIL PWR CORE 40 Brushless 40V 24 Cordless Hedge Trimmer that I purchased on February 20, 2022 [SN: 122042611]. Please find my purchase receipt attached for reference.
On 3/6/2025, while using the hedge trimmer, I experienced a critical malfunction where the tool remained operational even when the safety button was not pressed. As a result, my left hand was severely injured, with three fingers sustaining significant damage. Unfortunately, my index finger suffered nerve damage that required surgical intervention. I underwent surgery last week, which cost me $9,200 after insurance coverage.
Given the severity of this defect and the harm it has caused, I am deeply concerned about the safety of this product and its potential risk to other users. I am seeking a formal response from SKIL regarding this failure, including an explanation of how such a malfunction could occur and what corrective actions will be taken to prevent similar incidents.
