The product, in the report: Battery operated hedge trimmer
The dual-trigger safety interlock on this hedge trimmer has failed. Its designed to require the front handle switch and rear trigger to be depressed simultaneously before the blade activates. On my unit, depressing either trigger alone now activates the blade, defeating the safety interlock entirely. This matches the defect described in Chervons June 2023 recall of the related EGO Power+ HT2410 Cordless Brushless Hedge Trimmer, in which the rear switch trigger failed to rebound after being pressed and caused unexpected activation, resulting in 8 reported lacerations requiring stitches. My HT2400 falls outside that recalls date range but exhibits the identical failure mode on a closely related model with the same dual-trigger design.
