The product, in the report: Dewalt Pole Hedge Trimmer
I bought a Dewalt DCPH820B battery powered pole hedge trimmer with articulating head. Yesterday I opened it up and put it together, screwed the pole onto the trimmer head assembly, and tested the articulation of the head. I installed the shoulder strap and placed it over my head and right shoulder. The head assembly was pointed up at a 90 degree angle, perpendicular to the pole, and the guard was in place. There was no battery installed on the unit, and it did not have the capability of functioning as a trimmer without it.
The trimmer head started shifting to the left as I was walking with it, independently of the pole. I reached out instinctively so the head did not smack into anything, and the guard slipped off right before I grabbed it. The blades bit into the flesh between my left index finger and thumb, about 3/4” wide and about 1/4” deep. I went to the ER, where they were able to stitch up the jagged tear with four stitches.
