The product, in the report: rear engine riding mower Have you contacted the manufacturer?: (Product needs to be recalled A.S.A.P.) Yes, several times. Originally told that unit was unsafe & has many problems with this model. Told DO NOT USE. VERY UNSAFE! They said would repair or buy it back. Then, next day they told consumer to wait until they decide what to do about it. They said wait appox. 2 weeks. Have never heard back from them. Called after 2 weeks & was given another runaround. Still haven’t heard from them. Last call was 6/12/14 to them. Also, consumer only weighs 165 LBS. There is no excuse for frame welds to break. Defective manufacturing!
May 17th 2014 this caller was riding on his rear engine riding lawnmower, he stopped to allow a woman walking with her baby to pass by when the frame snapped causing the engine to dropped downward stretching the clutch, gas etc. throwing the unit into high gear.
The consumer states that when the frame snapped the rear engine riding mower took off like a rocket ship almost causing caller to run over a lady with her baby. This unit has not been used more than twenty hours total.
The caller is reporting this incident to alert the public of the safety issue for anyone riding the product or walking in front of it.
Caller states that he has a back injury after an on the job accident and he does believe that this incident has worsened the injury.
He has contacted the manufacturer but has received no assistance

The product, in the report: Weedeater Catalog No. WE261 Ser # 020410L005235
While mowing the yard the mower broke in half. The brackets that attach the frame to the rear end (engine/transmission housing) broke off. When I disassemble the mower to find out what happened, I discovered that the brackets were only tack welded to the frame and all four welds had failed. Manufacturer says it’s out of warrantee (2 years) but I think it is a design or manufacturing flaw. Fortunately, I wasn’t injured when this happened but the potential was certainly there.

The product, in the report: Weedeater RIDING MOWER-MODEL WE261
WEEDEATER ONE RIDING MOWER-MODEL WE261- THE STEERING SPINDLE BREAKS SHORTLY AFTER BEING OPERATED REPEATEDLY CAUSING THE RIDER TO BE UNABLE TO STEER. BRAKES ARE FAILING REPEATEDLY AND TRANSMISSIONS ARE FAILING REPEATEDLY. THIS IS THE WORST ENGINEERED AND UNSAFEST RIDING MOWER ON THE MARKET. ALL OF THE ABOVE HAS HAPPENED TO ME OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS. IF YOU SEARCH ONLINE YOU WILL FIND THIS IS HAPPENING TO VERY MANY OWNERS. WEEDEATER (HUSQVARNA) HAS DONE NOTHING TO IMPROVE THESE SAFETY ISSUES. ACTION NEEDS TO BE TAKEN TO FORCE A RECALL.

The product, in the report: WeedEater One rear engine lawn mower. Model 261
No injury occurred except to running into a house and fence. The steering on my WeedEater One riding lawn mower failed due to a bad design in the steering column. While mowing forward I went to turn and the steering wheel turned but the front wheels did not, and before I could stop I ran into the side of the house. Backed up and got the machine lined up to start mowing again in a straight line towards the fence and when I got where I needed to turn it started to turn and then again the steering wheel turned and the wheels did not resulting in a collision with the fence. I had to get it into my shed where I took the thing apart by removing the steering wheel and the steering adaptor and there I found the problem. The steering adaptor is made of some sort of plastic and has molded teeth on it and they where all rounded out along with the flats where the steering shaft goes through the center of the steering adaptor. I know this to be a big problem as I went on-line and there is many complaints about this lawn mower and the steering is a serious safety issue. I did not find where WeedEater has sent out any safety notice or offered any fix for this problem.

The product, in the report: weed eater one rear engine riding lawn mower, green
I purchased a Weed eater One rear engine riding lawn mower in March 2011 and have had many issues with it. The major one I consider to be a safety concern involves the brake cable breaking under normal use. I had just picked up my Weed eater One from an authorized repair center and the first time using it I went to apply the brake and noticed that the pedal went all the way down and the mower would not stop. I had to jump off the moving mower to get it to stop. I returned to the repair shop and over heard comments in the nature of “another broken brake cable” and doing a small amount of research online noticed that others have had similar issues.

The product, in the report: Weedeater lawnmower. Single blade, green
I was using a Weedeater lawnmower. I tipped over when the rear wheel ran over a brick. It completely flipped over on it’s side but did not shut off. The engine kept running and the blade stayed engaged and continued to turn.
