The product, in the report: Scag Turf Tiger 2006 used in residential use 480 total hours.
Scag Turf Tiger Zero Turn Riding Mower. Model STT61V-27CH. Serial # B6300763. Model year 2006. During mowing the shaft drive gearbox that is attached to a bracket on the rear of the mower deck ripped off the deck. At full throttle the drive shaft spun the heavy gearbox up into the fuel tank rupturing it. Ten gallons of gasoline poured out of the bottom of the tank under the mower and hot engine. This could have been a serious injury if the fuel ignited, but luckily it did not. Local dealer that I talked to said this has happened before. In fact, Scag makes an oem part to reinforce this bracket at a cost of 57.00 because it is evidently weak. I had the dealer call his rep at the Scag company and they basically said thats too bad. I thought it was a fairly serious issue with possibly serious consequences when a machine breaks its fuel tank but they (SCAG and the dealer) did not seem too concerned. The mower was used in residential use and has 480 hours.
