The product, in the report: Simplicity Manufacturing - Regent Riding Lawn Mower Model #2690575. Purchased in 2010 or 2011. Red mower with a 44” Cutting Deck and a Briggs & Stratton 22 HP motor.
This involves the seat latch on a 2010 Simplicity Manufacturing Regent Riding Lawn Mower Model 2690575 (44” Deck with a B&S 22 HP motor).
The seat latch moves out of the user-adjustable notch when ascending or descending a slight grade. The movement of the seat moves to either of the extreme positions unexpectedly within a fraction of a second. The unexpected seat movement can cause the Operator to lose control of the mower, possibly causing an accident and/or injury to the Operator, bystanders, or property. The seat latch has been re-designed and is of an improper gauge of metal to properly hold the seat in the pre-determined position.
This has happened on many occasions.
The manufacturer has been informed of the issue and has not offered remediation of the cause.
