The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Jul 28, 2025, sent to the company Aug 5, 2025, published by CPSC Aug 19, 2025

The product, in the report: VEVOR 1.5 HP Cast Iron Sprinkler/Irrigation Pump, 115/230 Volt, 66 GPM 3450 RPM Shallow Well Jet Water Pump Booster, 1’’ NPT Outlet 1-1/4’’ NPT Inlet Lake Lawn Pump for Irrigation Sprinkler System

VEVOR 1.5 HP Cast Iron Sprinkler/Irrigation Pump, 115/230 Volt, 66 GPM 3450 RPM Shallow Well Jet Water Pump Booster, 1’’ NPT Outlet 1-1/4’’ NPT Inlet Lake Lawn Pump for Irrigation Sprinkler System. The motor casing of the 230 volt configured China made pump that I purchased from VEVOR gets so hot after a little over an hour of continued use that the motor’s thermal circuit shuts the motor down until the casing cools down. Since the motor has adequate ventilation and uses a 14 AWG power cord rated for 15 amps to power the motor, I decided to check the size of the wiring used to connect the motor to the pressure regulator switch. I found that the wire used by the manufacturer is only 18 AWG which is rated by UL for a maximum of 10 amps, and sometimes 7 amps depending on wire insulation. At 230 volts, the motor supposedly draws 6 amps which is within the wire’s current rating, but pushing it. When motor is wired for 115 volt operation, the pump supposedly draws 12 amps which exceeds the wire’s current handling rating, and presents a safety and fire hazard. Aside from not working reliably, the motor that I have is a safety hazard.
