The product, in the report: Dura Rib Pocket Hose

The product is a “Dura Rib Pocket Hose”, made in China by Telebrands, Inc of Fairfield, NJ (telebrands.com, and sold by Rite-Aid stores. (Mine is from Rite-Aid of Highland Park, NJ - 332 Raritan Ave, Highland Park, NJ 08904).

The first time I attached the hose to a spigot and nozzle and turned on the water, (removing their supplied valved adapter as per instructions), the hose failed explosively. The end of the hose flew off and the torn hose began to flail uncontrollably (due to its soft construction) spraying water everywhere.

Of greatest concern is the force with which the hose end flew off, carrying the attached nozzle. It could have caused serious injury had it hit someone.

The product, in the report: a Pocket Hose

I purchased a “pocket hose” on 4/28/15 and while using it on 5/31/15 it exploded and the fabric part separated from the metal parts. A metal bolt inside the spigot attachment flew across the deck, one part went off the deck and another was blown across the deck. Had any of these parts hit me in the face or eye, I would have sustained a serious injury. I am going to mail or attempt to attach a photo showing the various parts as well as the fabric crinkle hose itself.
