I was using the hose as directed and watering my garden in my preschool when the end popped off wear the sprayer was attached and hit me in the eye at an alarming speed. I have pictures of the damage both to the hose, which is frayed at the end and to my eye. I will need to see a doctor. This could have been worse if it had hit one of the children in my preschool. I got an instant headache and my eye is red and swollen and will not stop tearing. I have a patch on it to rest it until I can see a doctor.

The product, in the report: Pocket Hose Ultra, made by Tele Brands, black color
I have been using the Tele Brands Pocket Hose Ultra since the end of March 2015. Last week, I turned the hose on to water my plants and the hose immediately “exploded”, squirting gusts of water in 3 separate locations. The water force was very strong, and started spraying water everywhere. I could not control the hose! Had a child been near this could have been very dangerous. I have followed the directions, always turned the water off when I was done and completely drained the hose out, kept out of sun, etc.

The product, in the report: Pocket Hose. 50 feet in length. Bright lime green in color.
I’ve owned a Pocket Hose for less than THREE months. Followed the directions regarding storage out of the sun and elements to the LETTER! Made SURE i kept the pressure off of it when not in use. JUST like the directions said. It turned on the water just now and the end connected to the hose spigot literally blew up in my face!!! Luckily there were no injuries to myself or my 6-year old daughter who was standing next to me. Contacted TeleBrands who markets this junk to no avail. “We only market the product Sir” There is NO number to which you can call and complain, no person to talk to about a complaint...NOTHING!! you cant even speak to a live person to order the stupid thing. DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE!!! THEY ARE DANGEROUS!!!!!! This isn’t the only instance I know of where this has occured. Buddy of mine had the EXACT same thing happen. THIS PRODUCT IS INFERIOR IN CRAFTSMANSHIP. It should be taken off the market!! YES i am going to contact the Consumer Products Safety Commision. JUNK JUNK JUNK!!! BUYERS BEWARE!

The product, in the report: Pocket Hose 1/2 in. x 50 ft. Expanding Garden Hose
We purchased 3 of the Pocket Hoses from the Home Depot. All three hoses broke. The first one had the plastic end break off so we threw it away. The second on built up pressure while filling up and sprung a leak so we threw that away too. The third one filled with water, started building up pressure, and then literally exploded like an overfilled water balloon would do. Being the material of the hose is thicker than a water balloon, when it exploded, it was a very loud pop and water shot everywhere. My husband has hypertension, and this startling explosion certainly wasn’t good for his blood pressure. I went to report this to Home Depot online and began reading other people’s product reviews and see that this is occurring quite often.

The product, in the report: “Pocket Hose” - 25/50Ft ??; lime green in color.
I purchased the “Pocket Hose” at Home Depot a few months ago. On Saturday, 17 Aug 13, I was watering and noticed that the outside material started to crack and fray -- before I could get the water source turned off, the inside ‘hose’ exploded -- fortunately only dousing me with water. I went on line and found that this is a regular occurrence with this hose. Should you not do something about that; perhaps recalling them as safety hazards? What if it had exploded at the spray nozzle connecting point - that could have done significant damage to a body part -- perhaps even an eye!!!
She found online that this is a regular occurrence with this hose. Injury ha

No one hurt Made Jul 30, 2013, sent to the company Aug 7, 2013, published by CPSC Aug 28, 2013
The product, in the report: “Pocket Hose” TM neon yellow-green; widely advertised on television and in print media; made in China, distributed through TeleBrand Plaza, Fairfield, NJ and in numerous local stores.
I purchased a “Pocket Hose” at a local store, set it up at an outdoor spigot, and used it for roughly a month and a half. Three days ago, as I used the hose to water my garden, it exploded. A piece of the hose’s internal clear, flexible plastic structure flew out of the hose and across the yard, (luckily) narrowly missing hitting my dog. It occurred to me that this might be a problem for others, and a danger to not only users but also to anyone in the vicinity. Given the nature of a hose, and its closeness to the ground, I am especially concerned for children and pets; although the velocity of the explosion was such that the piece of the internal hose could have flown anywhere. The outer hose structure simply separated. It looked as if the force of the exploding hose tore it apart, none of it was missing.

Seen by a doctor or nurse Made Jun 26, 2013, sent to the company Jul 5, 2013, published by CPSC Jul 26, 2013
The product, in the report: POCKET HOSE, made in China, sold on TV and by TARGET Bar code 0 97298 02296 8. Sold by TARGET for. $19.99. The hose is sold as a compact hose that “Expands with water pressure” when the water is turned on and retracts when the pressure is released by turning off the hose and opening the nozzle to release the water pressure. Sold to be “Compact for easy storage”, and “Kink & Tangle Resistant”.
My 9 year old granddaughter, while using the hose to water plants, was struck violently by the hose on her upper left arm when the hose separated at its terminal end at the junction with the plastic threaded connector (See photos). The action was so violent that the severed end or the threaded connector cut the skin in two places and caused whelps and bruises on the skin in 5 places (See photos). She was using the hose normally under my supervision at the time. She immediately screamed in pain. As she refused to move her arm and concerned about a sprain or torn ligament, I called her father, a physician, requesting he observe her injuries. He purchased pain medication in child dosage strength and gave it to her. He also recommended ice packs and a topical anti-bacterial ointment with pain relief ingredients. The hose was being used as intended and normal for a water hose. Our water service is provided by a municipal water supply, not self regulated by a private well. Our water pressure is considered good or very good, but not unsafe. The hose had been stored loosely coiled on the porch in the shade immediately prior to use. Any reasonable person, after reviewing the facts of this incident, would be concerned about similar injuries or the real potential for eye injury if the hose was used at or above face level, as is done while watering hanging baskets or washing windows. To quate my granddaughter, “They should stop selling those things!”.

The product, in the report: HOSE THAT SHRINKS UP
THE [REDACTED] HOSE AND POCKET HOSE HAVE MANY PROBLEMS !! HAVE GONE THRU 8 OF THEM, FROM SMALL PIN HOLE LEAKS TO A TOTAL BLOW OUT FROM THE NOZZLE SECTION. WAS WASHING MY CAR AND THE HOSE BLEW OFF THE END AND WHIPPED AROUND, HIT ME IN THE HEAD AND GOT MY GARAGE WET PLUS THE CAR WHICH I HAD JUST DRIED OFF. THE [REDACTED] HOSE IS SOLD ON THE INTERNET ONLY. EBEY,AS SEEN ON TV,TV AD’S....... THE POCKET HOSE IS SOLD AT WALMART,CVS.TARGET,HOME DEPOT,WALGREENS AND ALSO THE HAVE A WEB SITE. THEY HAVE MANY BAD REVIEWS !! THE POCKET HOSE HAS NO WARNING ABOUT WATER PRESSURE THAT SHOULD BE LISTED. I FOUND OUT THAT THE HIGHEST PRESSURE YOU SHOULD USE IS 100 PSI AT MY HOUSE THE STREET PRESSURE IS ONLY 75 LBS WHICH SHOULD BE NO PROBLEM, BUT IT IS. THE HOSES BULGE AND LEAK WHEN THE MATERIAL THEY ARE USING GETS THE SLIGHTEST SCUFF. MY FRIEND BOUGHT A [REDACTED] HOSE OFF THE INTERNET FROM THEIR WEB SITE. HER HOSE BLEW OFF AT THE NOZZLE, IT WAS A 75 FOOTER AND IT GOT A NEIGHBOR WET WALKING DOWN THE SIDEWALK AND ALSO HER. SHE PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR HER 3 HOSES OF WHICH SHE TRIED 2 GET HER MONEY BACK AND WAS TOLD THE 60 DAYS WERE UP, AND THERE WAS NOTHING SHE COULD DO. I AM SURE THESE HOSES ARE MADE BY THE SAME COMPANY IN CHINA, WHICH IS MAKING A PRODUCT WHICH HAS MORE DEFECTIVE HOSES THAN GOOD ONES !! I HAVE TAKEN THIS UPON MYSELF TO INFORM YOU AND OTHER PEOPLE NOT TO BUY THIS JUNK. I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED THE LOCAL NEW’S STATIONS HERE IN LOS ANGELES TO SEE IF THEIR INTERESTED IN DOING A STORY, ON THESE HOSES...... CHANNEL 4,5,9,11,13 BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT, IF NOT ALREADY !! THE PRICES OF THESE HOSES VARIES FROM $19.99- $60.00 IT IS REALLY SAD TO SEE THAT PEOPLE ARE STILL BUYING THEM WITH ALL THESE PROBLEMS. MY SUGGESTION !! 1. THERE SHOULD BE A TOTAL RECALL ON THESE ITEMS #2 WARNING ON WATER PRESSURE #3 LONGER GUARENTEE #4 BETTER MATERIAL FROM CHINA #5 GREAT IDEA BUT THEY SHOULD JUST STOP BUYING THIS CHEAPLY MADE PRODUCT FROM CHINA !! EVEN THE THREADS ARE MESSED UP THAT GO INTO THE NOZZLE AND THAT SHUT OFF VALVE LEAKS..... HAD ONE WITH A PIN HOLE LEAK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PRODUCT. I HOPE THIS HELPS THE CAUSE FOR WHICH I AM TRYING TO ATTAIN.
