Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Modern Sprout Hydroponic Grow Kit: Cilantro. It comes packaged in a large green glass mason jar.

I was given a Modern Sprout Hydroponic Grow Kit as a gift yesterday for Christmas, and I started setting it up today. The kit had several pieces in it, including a rigid metal filter pot that appears to be made of stamped metal. I was holding it in my left hand when I felt a sharp pain on the inside of my thumb. I dropped the pot, and saw that the edge of it had sliced my finger. If I had been holding on tighter, or if the pot hadn’t cut at an oblique angle, I’m confident I would have needed stitches. The edge of the pot has a burr on the entirety of the underside that is sharp enough to make a clean slice in paper. I promise I’m not trying to waste your time, I’m seriously concerned that I just avoided an even more painful injury.
