  1. No one hurt

The product, in the report: The product is the “OSH 2 in 1 Garden & Deck Premium Sprayer” Model number 23481. It is manufactured by the Hudson Company.

I purchased an OSH brand pump sprayer that was made by the Hudson Company. I phoned the Hudson company yesterday (1-800-977-7293) to say that I have twice been sprayed in the face with [REDACTED] because the pump design makes it all too easy to allow the tank pressure to escape from the top of the unit. The rep I spoke with said it is a “good” unit and that I must not be securing the top tightly enough. I assured her that I had, but she continued to insist it was something I was doing incorrectly. She told me I could take the sprayer back to OSH for a refund, but I feel this design problem is serious enough that someone should look into it.

The product is the “OSH 2 in 1 Garden & Deck Premium Sprayer” Model number 23481.

The instructions say not to use the sprayer with your face or body over the pump, but there is no way to pressurize the pump unless you are. I have used many different pump brads over many, many years and have never had this problem. I am hoping someone can test this product to see if I just bought a lemon, or if there is something wrong with the overall design - which I believe to be the case. To tighten the pump, you turn it clockwise, but then to engage the pump, you have to turn it counter-clockwise. If you turn it just a fraction too far, however, you release the pressure in the tank and the liquid in the tank comes up in your face.

I’m not going to return this unit to OSH until I hear from you.
