No incident, no one hurt Made Feb 1, 2026, sent to the company Feb 4, 2026, published by CPSC Feb 19, 2026
The product, in the report: PowerSmart electric snow blower, model DB5021, corded electric.
On January 26, 2026, at approximately 11:00 AM EST, I was operating a PowerSmart electric snow blower (model DB5021) under normal, intended conditions.
During use, the electrical plug at the unit overheated and caught fire. The plug and insulation melted and showed visible burn damage. At the time of the incident, my hand was on the handle of the machine. Although no physical injury occurred, the plug was actively on fire and presented an immediate risk of electric shock, burn injury, and house or garage fire.
The unit was immediately unplugged to prevent further damage. Photographs show melted plastic, burned prongs, and heat damage at the plug connection.
There was no misuse of the product. The snow blower was being operated as intended.
This incident represents a serious electrical and fire hazard

The product, in the report: PowerSmart 80v 24 inch Cordless Snow Blower
On a Power Smart 80v 24 inch cordless snowblower model DB2805, the Auger and Drive controls on the handle have both become stuck in the on position. Although they did not occur at the same time it is possible they could. There were no injuries and the controls were able to be joggled to be released, but just letting go of the controls was sometimes not sufficient.

No one hurt Made Dec 20, 2022, sent to the company Jan 9, 2023, published by CPSC Jan 24, 2023
The product, in the report: Powersmart Snowthrower PSSW24 Black and Red in color, 2 stage gas powered Snowthrower, 24 inch clearance, 212cc 4 stroke engine, sold by Walmart.com
I purchased a new Powersmart Snowthrower in December 2021 and after only 5 uses the Drive Gear came apart and became entwined with the Auger Belt causing the machine to be stuck in Drive with the Auger Blades turning. This was very dangerous as I was unable to let go of the handles to reach down to the engine and pull the key out until I had the machine up against a wall to stop it safely so I could reach the key and kill the engine! I seen that these machines were recently recalled due to a similar problem with the Drive Gear they apparently never fixed!

No one hurt Made Feb 16, 2021, sent to the company Mar 8, 2021, published by CPSC Mar 22, 2021
The product, in the report: Brand: Powersmart Description: Two Stage Snow Thrower Model: DB7659H-22 Engine: 212cc, 4-stroke Clearing width: 22-inches SN: 0011 7077 6591 2200 421 Model DB7659H-22
During snow clearing, my PowerSmart DB7659H-22 would not stop moving forward. When I realized it was not operating properly, I used the emergency stop key to turn the unit off. However, a significant amount of small rubber particles (2mm -> 1cm in size) started falling from underneath the unit as I wheeled it back into the house. After removing the pulley guard, I could see the pulley bolt had backed off and was pressing against the drive plate. The threads on the pulley washer are damaged and the rubber around the drive clutch’s friction wheel is significantly gouged and uneven. Apparently, this is the source of the rubber particles.

The product, in the report: Snow Blower
I have a snow blower made by Amerisun. I got a recall notice of a bolt that comes loose and i the consumer needed to tighten. I did such and proceeded to run the snow blower. I cranked and came on but never shuts off. Its got an on and off switch and a key to remove for safety and shut off. Neither worked and had to let the gas run out. A bolt did come also flying off and its now a safety hazard because it cant be turned off. I luckily only filled it with a tiny bit of gas.

The product, in the report: Snow Thrower - Power Smart DB7651 24 inch 208cc LCT Two-Stage Snow Thrower with Electric Start, newly purchased through Amazon.com on January 19, 2016.
Regarding: Power Smart DB7651 24 inch 208cc LCT Two-Stage Snow Thrower with Electric Start
The very first time I used this new snow blower, something went wrong, and it would not stop. It just kept moving forward despite my attempts to change the speed and direction lever. Ultimately I stopped it by turning it off. At that point, it remained in gear, and the wheels locked up. I tried to restart it, but it automatically took off and remained in gear. I turned it off again and tried this multiple times. I finally had to drag it from the street back up to my garage where it sat until I could find someone to come out and repair it. I had to have someone come to my house. It cost me $180 for his 2 trips to my house, plus the labor. I am not sure it is repaired and I am afraid to use it.
