The product, in the report: Ariens snowblower. 28” Model # 921046 Model # ST28DLE Serial #237464

Husband and I were attempting to load the snowblower on the back of a truck. The auger was off and nobody was near the handle that operates the auger. Husband was pulling while I was pushing the snowblower. The auger suddenly released grabbing the tip of my glove and pulling my hand and trapping it inside the auger. I sustained several injuries to my hand including dislocation of fingers, breaks in fingers and stripping of the skin off the back of my hand which took several stitches to reattach.

The product, in the report: Ariens Platinum Series 24 EFI Snow Blower

I recently purchased an Ariens Platinum 24 SHO Snow Blower with EFI. The unit contains a 7.2 Volt Battery that is either Lithium or Nickel Cadmium. The leads on the battery are defective and the plastic plug came off with no effort and exposed the two leads which shorted out. The pins for the leads are defective and are not secured correctly. From what I’ve been told this is NOT an isolated issue to my snow blower. Within 20 inches (estimate ) is the gas tank. I store my snow blower in my garage and or shed. My concern is that the spark from the short can start a fire from nearby stored gas or spilled gasoline.

BTW. The Dealer is terrific. They took back the unit understanding that gravity of the issue and exchanged it for another unit without EFI.

The product, in the report: Ariens Snow Blower 24”

I bought my snow blower 1/21/2014. On 2-21-2015 I had used my snow blower and put it away in the garage. About an hour later I could smell fumes near my kitchen which is attached to the garage. I opened the garage door and very strong smell of gas fumes came into the house. I went out into the garage and could see that my snow blower was dripping gas out of it onto the garage floor. I put something down to catch the gas and manually opened my garage door to let the smell out. It took about 20 minutes before it quit leaking gas. I have a call into Briggs and Stratton as I see my model and seriel number is on the recall list on their site. I had registered my product 2-15-2013 online but I never received a recall notice in the mail or phone.

The product, in the report: Ariens snowblower, model 921018, purchased new November 2011

My Ariens snowblower which is less than three years old leaked gas onto the garage floor. I took it outsiide and started it to use up any remaining gasoline. After a short time, the engine shut off. I went into the house and a few minutes later, the snowblower burst into flames. The fire department was called. Luckily no one was injured, but my $1700 snowblower is ruined.

The product, in the report: Snowblower

This caller is contacting the hotline to report his snow thrower with the problem which created release# 14-158. Hi that has the same model number as those called with release# 14-158 but does not have one of the serial numbers referenced in the recall.

As soon as he put it together he noticed that the impeller continues to move which could cause a safety hazard according to this release. He would ask that his unit also be recalled and repaired.

There are no injuries being reported

The caller has not contacted the manufacturer but does intend to contact them.
