(04/27/2019) The consumer stated that after mowing the lawn for about an hour, he noticed 3 foot flames coming from the engine compartment. The fire department was called but by the time that the fire department got to his home, the consumer stated that he was able to put the fire out by dousing it with water.
There were no injuries and the damages were contained to the lawn tractor.

The product, in the report: Garden Tractor with 52”mowing deck
The seat on my new Husqvarna model GTH52XLS will slide forward when mowing downhill which causes me to lose control, to wit, accelerate forward as my weight depresses the accelerator pedal. Being jammed forward I cannot easily access the brake pedal. I have jumped a curb and driven into traffic. The seat cannot be moved with a rider on it.
The ratchet mechanism for adjusting the seat barely engages with the notches on the rail. and there is clear signs that the little plastic that engages is already wearing down
The seat is very flexible, so any normal weight deforms its shape. I have looked at other models of Husqvarna mowers at my local Lowes store and all share this defect. A check on the internet shows others who have had the seat move forward on them.
I am 6’2” and weigh 239 lbs.
The incident date shown is the date I wound up in traffic. It is not the first time the seat has moved on me.

Purchased a brand new Husquavarna lawn tractor 3 months ago gas tank is leaking.Called dealer gas tanks are not available they are on back order been waiting 2 months for a gas tank dealer said they would call soon as it comes in .I noticed the mower leaking right after purchase and thought maybe I had over filled the tank.The gas tank is leaking at the seam were it was sealed together .

On August 17, 2014 I was mowing our field with our 2 year old Husqvarna YTH 2454 lawn tractor, with a [REDACTED] 24 HP engine, model 445677, Type 0176 E1, Code 060103YG. After about an hour of mowing it suddenly stopped running as if the key had been turned off. When I attempted to restart it about 2 pints of fuel leaked out of the hot muffler. I could not see the leaking fuel because I was sitting on the tractor. I found out later that it was also pumping fuel into the crankcase. Fuel leaking trough the hot muffler could easily have caused a fire. Fuel in the crankcase could also damage the engine. I contacted the dealer and spoke to a mechanic. After discussing a few options he felt it was probably the fuel solenoid. He mentioned he had seen the failure before. I contacted [REDACTED] email help line. After several emails their representative, even though I suggested the fuel solenoid as the problem, told me I needed to re-build the carburetor. I went online to order [REDACTED] parts for the engine and discovered that the fuel solenoid had been discontinued and was no longer available. I again spoke to the mechanic and he said he thought it was strange a part like that on a 2 year old engine, was no longer available without a safety recall. The mechanic ordered the new replacement fuel solenoid and I after the solenoid and drained the fuel from the crankcase, the engine runs fine. That amount of fuel leaking through the hot exhaust and muffler is a dangerous situation. It could easily resulted in a fire. [REDACTED] n knows of this problem because it has discontinued the previous fuel solenoid. This is a dangerous safety issue and the engines should be recalled and repaired.

I purchased a Husqvarna LGT2554 Lawn Tractor from Lowe’s in Campbellsville Ky on May 29, 2010. This mower is used only at my residence. On 6/06/14 the transaxle, Tuff toro K46AW broke on the left side. I had no brakes & I went into a fence; I had no control @ all. There was no warnings of any kind, no popping, cracking. When I hit the fence the wheel fell off. I thoroughly inspected at the beginning of the season & there were no cracks, etc to indicate an issue. I contacted Lowe’s & Husqvarna with no results.
This could have been fatal if I had went into the road. I checked the reviews & there are many incidents with this same mower, same transaxle breaking on the same side. Other consumers repaired the transaxle and 1 year later, the transaxle would break again. The model # is 960-450015, serial # 042710A011299.

The product, in the report: Garden tractor
The consumer stated that he was riding his garden tractor for approximately 45 minutes and the seat shifted completely to the left side. The consumer immediately turned off the tractor and got off. The front of the seat is located on hinge for support. The consumer stated that the metal sheet underneath the hinge (8 inch bar) was cracked. The consumer stated that this is very a serious hazard because if these metal parts break they could damage the gas tank that is directly position underneath the seat.
The consumer stated that he contacted the manufacturer and they informed him that they could not assist him because the garden tractor is out of warranty.

Purchased brand new 2011 Husqvarna Garden Tractor ( Model# GTH27V48LS) from Husqvarna dealer 10/1/2011.
Used for the first time 10/7/2011 and this is when the following occured. Received with a a full tank of gasoline ( 4 gal.) After mowing for apoprox. one (1) hour, machine quit running. OUT OF GAS !! Couldn’t believe it used up so much gas in 1 hour. Re-filled tank and then decided to look under machine to see how much gas was in the translucent plastic tank. Gas was pouring out of the fuel line--no way to stop it. Immediately hosed everything off with water.Anyone smoking or a spark near this would have been disasterous!! I observed visually that the affected fuel line was not only too long, but it had never been tied up out of the way of moving steel parts (namely when the mower deck was raised to a higher position, the rubber fuel line became pinched between pieces of steel) and ruptured. Called the dealer : S&D Power Sports,Inc. 708 Manitou Rd., Hilton, NY 14468 (585-366-4800) They came right out, confirmed what I observed regarding the fuel line and said they would contact Husqvarna concerning this dangerous flaw in the machine.(Note:S&D promptly returned the repaired machine to me within 2 hrs.) This needs to be addressed as I since discovered that Husqvarna did have a recall in 2010 for that model year Garden Tractors FOR THE VERY SAME PROBLEM !!! Also, if you look back to year 2006, Husqvarna recalled 174,000 tractors for fire hazard problems. I personally sent a review to Husavarna regarding the danger of the leaking fuel line and they sent me an e-mail telling me that my review was NOT ACCEPTABLE !!
The New York State Attorney’s Office would also be interested in this matter.
