No one hurt Made Jun 22, 2023, sent to the company Jun 26, 2023, published by CPSC Jul 18, 2023
The product, in the report: 54 In. 23 -HP Kawasaki Gas Hydrostatic Zero Turn Mower Orange Product Number 96795400101; HID Number 967954001W342021114399024
54 In. 23 -HP Kawasaki Gas Hydrostatic Zero Turn Mower caught on fire while being operated spontaneously. Spouse was able to continue driving it with flames showing it to get it closer to the house where we have a fire extinguisher. He was able to put out the fire. Fire appears to have been related to the electrical connections that are connected to the battery. Battery is the same battery that was installed on the original product. We have made no changes to the product. Had he been farther away on our acreage or had we not had an extinguisher handy the results could have been detrimental.

The product, in the report: Husqvarna lawnmower model 5521P96133001800 serial number 012813M006359
On or about May 5, 2014 I was mowing my lawn and a piece broke off the lawnmower and went flying and the blade became loose but did remain attached to the mower. The piece that broke is called a blade adapter and connects the the blade to the shaft. I took the piece of the blade adapter that remained on the mower to an authorized Husqvarna dealer and they said it broke because of a manufacturing defect. They also said that Husqvarna was not making the blade adapter as strong as they use to. I reported this incident to Husqvarna but there has been no follow-up by them so I am now reporting it to you.
No one was injured in this incident but someone could be severely hurt if the piece that broke off and went flying hit them.
