The product, in the report: Honda Mower Model HRT 216 SDA, Relates to CPSC, American Honda Motor Co. Inc. Announce Recall of Lawnmowers Release # 00-095, April 11, 2000.
We acquired this Honda Harmony II Model HRT 216 SDA. Serial #MZCG 6018714. and GTAE 1145945
While using the mower I noticed that the Fuel Tank is leaking at the seams.
In researching for a Fuel Tank, I found that there is a Safety Recall by CPSC and American Honda Motor Company, which indicated to stop using the mower and take it to the nearest Honda service outlet.
We delivered the mower this morning, some time later we received a call from the service outlet to say that Honda has refused to make the Recall based on the fact that their records indicated that they had replace the Fuel Tank on this particular unit and are no longer responsible since the warrantee expired on the replacement tank. (Which by the way if that were so they apparently installed a Fuel Tank which resulted in identical failure)
It was recommended that we call Honda direct and perhaps get a better result. I did so and was informed as above, they replaced the Fuel Tank once, (We are not aware of a replacement, but we do have a dangerous safety issue) and they stated that replacement Fuel Tank part warrantee expired and they are no longer responsible.
Is this considered a correct way to handle a safety issue?
Any assistance you can provide would be appreciated, in later retirement we cannot afford to pay almost 200.00 or worst even more to replace the mower.
Respectively, [REDACTED].
