Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: washing machine

(03/23/2022) The consumer’s newly purchased washing machine caught on fire in the middle of the night.

The consumer stated that his wife smelled smoke. He got up to look around the house to see if he could find anything burning. When he didn’t see anything, he went back to bed. His wife woke him again. This time he checked the basement and saw scorch marks and soot on the washing machine.

The consumer contacted GE who sent a repair person out to check the product. It was determined that the washing machine was un-repairable.

The consumer’s main concern is the safety of the product. He stated that GE would not say whether or not they were going to take a report on the safety of the product.
