The product, in the report: GE Profile UltraFast Combination Washer/Dryer, model PFQ97HSPV0DS
I own a GE Profile UltraFast Combination Washer/Dryer, model PFQ97HSPV0DS. During normal household use, I discovered excessive lint accumulation inside the heat pump/lint chamber. The lint collects in an area that is not reasonably accessible to the consumer through the normal maintenance opening.
I clean the lint filter and perform the recommended self-clean cycles, yet large amounts of lint continue to build up internally. The accumulation cannot be adequately removed without partial disassembly of the appliance.
My concern is that this design allows combustible lint to accumulate around components that become warm during operation. As the lint continues to build up, I am concerned it could reduce airflow, increase operating temperatures, and create a potential overheating or fire hazard.
I have not experienced a fire or injury, but I believe the design presents a potential safety risk because consumers cannot effectively maintain the appliance as designed.

No one hurt Made Aug 28, 2025, sent to the company Jan 15, 2026, published by CPSC Feb 5, 2026
The product, in the report: All in one, washer dryer
There is an inherent problem with the lint filters in these machines. There are thousands of reports online. Their machine was not drying the items properly. The consumer contacted a technician and when he came, he said that she placed too many items in the machine. The consumer slim down the number of items placed in the machine and still had the same problem. One evening, she saw an error code on her machine. It indicated (combustible). It also instructed her to turn the machine off, but not to unplug it. On page 2 of the product’s safety information, it states: In certain situations, hydrogen gas may build up in the hot water system. If the hot water system has not been used in a certain time, the hydrogen gas can be combustible. The consumer is gravely concerned about this potential hazard and no longer wants the machine in her home. The consumer called the manufacturer, and they sent out a technician 3 weeks later. The technician could not identify the problem, but the consumer said that he told her this was the cleanest machine he has ever seen. He went on to say that there was nothing wrong with her machine. The consumer noted that he had (tech) not turned it on or operated it since that time; so how could he make that claim. She has tried to contact the manufacturer and request that they pick up the machine. She said that there are codes, which come up on the machine, where the technicians did not know why they were there. The tech was not aware of this code.
The consumer contacted the manufacturer again and requested that they pick up the machine, but they would not. They offered to send out another technician. The consumer said regardless of the number of technicians sent out, she no longer wants this machine.

This product was included in a recall. The consumer was not aware of the recall until she called the firm after the washing machine caught on fire.

The product, in the report: GE Profile Front Load Washing Machine
I have a GE Profile front load washer that broke. I have an extended warranty. On a previous service call, the technician advised me that because it was a stackable washer / dryer, I had to call back for service requesting a two (2) man service. Since then the washing machine unit has stopped working. I have called for service approximately six (6) times to point where there is a stalemate. The latest development has been that the service technician has advised that it is not possible to have a two (2) person service call. Prior to this most recent call, there was no extra charge for a two person crew. This has been their past business practice. I have an extended warranty that GE obviously is NOT going to honor in addition to the unit being a part of recall #13-003. The washing machine’s most recent failure included an alarming noise and a cloud of smoke, setting off smoke alarms. We are fortunate that somebody was home during this episode. If nobody was home, there certainly was a safety / fire risk. Please help me to resolve this issue

No one hurt Made Dec 2, 2016, sent to the company Dec 12, 2016, published by CPSC Dec 27, 2016
The product, in the report: GE Profile, Model WPGT9360; Serial # TL700545M; Top Loading Washer
In August, 2016, our clothes washer displayed a screen that said there was a problem with this unit. It did not allow me to do anything. So I called a company called, Action Appliance, that came out to fix the problem. They told me I needed a part that cost almost $500 and would take 2 to 3 days to get the part. It took two weeks and did not fix the problem. Long story short, it took four visits by four different men, another part for $200, and it finally worked. (I wanted them to take the original part back, return my money and I would have purchased a new washer....it’s 10 years old.) They refused to give me my money back. The washer is working but is not right. It’s making strange noises and is actually kind of scary....but not as scary as having to call the [REDACTED] at Action Appliance again. So, I’m rather relieved to get your recall notice. I hope this washer can be fixed or replaced ASAP because it’s been a nightmare. Please contact me ASAP to let me know how soon I can expect this to be resolved. Also, I did smell something different in the laundry room and had a vent cleaning company come out to thoroughly clean out the dryer vent and all vents in my house.
Kind regards,
[REDACTED]
