As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Feb 26, 2015, sent to the company Mar 9, 2015, published by CPSC Mar 23, 2015

The product, in the report: GE Front Load Washing Machine WCVH6260 WCVH 6260

Today our washing machine, GE Front Load Washing Machine WCVH6260, started smoking during normal use. Luckily I was close enough to the machine to hear that something was wrong, and when I paused the machine smoke billowed out.

I saw here that there are many others with similar complaints about the WCVH washers:

    http://www.thepetitionsite.com/739/633/604/recall-ge-wcvh-front-loading-washing-machines-due-to-smoking-fire-hazard/

And that a similar model was recalled:

    http://www.geappliances.com/products/recall/washer_2010/

If the components that caused the other model to be recalled are also in my WCVH 6260 machine (I don’t know if they are), it would seem that my model should also be recalled so I would really appreciate your looking into this issue on its own account and on account of the possibility of the same issue being in my model as in the recalled product.

While no immediate injuries happened during our use, I’m not sure what that smoke’s long term effects will be on those in the house at the time and I am lucky to have stopped the machine quickly so as to avoid further issues, which based on the other model’s reports might have been actual fire in my home.
