  1. No one hurt

Made Apr 17, 2017, sent to the company May 10, 2017, published by CPSC May 24, 2017

The product, in the report: Front Load Washing Machine

We had a GE front load washing machine Black - GE Energy Star 3.8 IEC cu. ft. King Size Capacity Front Load. Model Number WCVHH6600HBB. We bought it on 12/27/2007. We bought the washer dryer set.

We heard the spin cycle get really loud like and was shaking the house. Next thing we know the house is filling up with smoke. We thought it was an electrical fire so we had to race to turn all of the power off at the circuit breaker. This is exactly similar to the current recall they are having for the [REDACTED] version. I am not sure what would have happened if we weren’t home. It could have burned the house down and killed someone. GE should be ashamed that they haven’t recalled this product.

Tech came to see if he could repair the machine. He stated do not fix it is a safety hazard. Inner drum needs replacing. Inner Drum bent and warped. The inner tub is rubbing on the outer tub. It hits the outer tub - damaged. Gasket boot - damaged. Seal is damaged. Oil and debris is in the machine. Contact Ramey Repair Service. 770-837-8676

Prior to this incident my husband said he did notice the spin cycle was going faster than normal and the loads came out soaking wet.
