The product, in the report: Top Load Washer
03/09/2017 Consumer stated she washing a mattress pad on bulky/bedding cycle for about 10 minutes when she heard a loud noise. She stated her washer was vibrating up and down in a hopping position to a point where the washer had turned halfway around with hose still attached hitting her laundry area wall. She stated she unplugged washer from the electrical wall outlet to power off washer.
When she reached over the washer to pull plug the lid pinched my hand drawing blood. It has since healed but left a hard callus where the cut was. The washer was vibrating so hard it hit the dryer and walls causing a picture and a original butterfly art work from Key West to be destroyed
The service man that came out to my home from Sears said,” He thought they (Sears) had gone out and replaced all of the control panels on these washers years ago.” Somehow mine was missed. Consumer was never notified of a problem.
Consumer bought her first washer and dryer from Sears in 1971. It never had any problems with them that she can remember. When she moved to her new home in 1991the washer and dryer were too large for the space in her laundry room so she had to buy my second pair from Sears and donated the first ones. They worked fine and basically had no problem with them also. I had used both of them over 20 years each, with no real problems. When she bought her lake home in 2011, she bought this computerize, $1000- top of the line washer, the Kenmore Elite. She really hadn’t used it much, only in the summers, until she moved them into her new residence in 2016. It should have lasted me for another 20 years, like her other two washers from Sears, But within just a minute or two the control panel went out and the washer is completely destroyed, unrepairable, how can this be? It is one thing to have to have service call on an appliance occasionally but to have a washer that basically blows up and can’t be repaired because it is all bent up is another thing. She had to pay Sears $79 to have them come out and tell her this. Something is wrong with this picture. This is a defective product and very dangerous. She wants Sears to replace her washer. They have a responsibility to the consumer to put out a product that performs at a reasonable level and is safe.
Consumer is enclosing some reports involving the Kenmore Elite washer. In one of the reports #20160913- C6446-2147414196 it states this product has been recalled. Sears said no recall. Has it been recalled and is she entitled to some replacement if this is true. Please advise me.Thanks
03/13/2017 She contacted manufacture and spoke with [REDACTED] to report the incident. Consumer stated they can’t provide assistance because her washer is not part of a recall.
Hand cut, no medical attention needed.
