The product, in the report: Electrolux washer /dryer stacked combo White in color Front load
My Electrolux washer/dryer combo was running a load of clothes in the dryer when it shut off mid cycle with no power and my fire alarm started going off due to smoke coming out the top of the dryer unit. I removed the top of the dryer unit to find the control board wiring and relay melted that powers the thermastat over temp sensor for safety shutdown and the overload fuse . I performed a resistance test on both the sensor and the fuse and found no short circuit in either item therefore the cause of the fire was the relay sticking closed and melting the wiring and control board without ever activating any safety cutoff switches . If it was not for my fire alarm I would not have had a chance to unplug the unit in time before it set my house on fire .

The product, in the report: The product was purchased new from Spencers TV 2-3 weeks before the glass shattered, electric
We purchased an Electrolux washing machine, model: ELFW7637AT7, serial no: 4C62311054 from Spencers TV, Scottsdale, AZ on 6/26/2026, it was delivered on 6/27/2026. On 7/12, the tempered glass on the units door shattered during a delicate wash cycle with a loud noise and left hundreds or thousands of glass pieces in the machine. The tech from [REDACTED], sent by Electrolux Warranty Claims believes all that is required for repair is to [REDACTED] out the glass pieces and replace the tempered glass. He claims any glass shards will be washed out of the machine when a wash cycle is run. Even though there are small glass shards embedded in the rubber boot sealing the door, the repair man believes the [REDACTED] will remove all of them.

The product, in the report: Washer machine
The consumer was doing laundry and started the washing machine as usual. Approximately ten minutes after leaving the laundry room, she heard a loud noise. When she returned, she discovered that the washing machine’s glass door had shattered.
Some of the broken glass had been pulled into the washer drum and became mixed with the clothing, causing several garments to be torn into pieces. Additional shards of glass were propelled throughout the laundry room, creating a dangerous condition.
The only way the consumer was able to stop the machine was by running to the basement and switching off the circuit breaker to cut power to the washer.
The consumer contacted the manufacturer, and the company offered to repair the washing machine. However, she stated that she is not interested in having the unit repaired and plans to purchase a new washer instead. She is requesting that this product be investigated because she is concerned that another person could be seriously injured by a similar incident.

The product, in the report: Electrolux front load washing machine, white
Glass door of Electrolux front load washing machine shattered during normal use. No failsafe kicked in and the machine continued to spin at high speed. Broken glass that landed in the barrel caused severe damage to the interior of the machine. Much of the broken glass was ejected throughout the bathroom where the washing machine was located. I stepped on broken glass when I walked into the room to investigate the noise. Fortunately no one was in the room when the glass door shattered, but it could have caused major injury if they had been. I feel this item is not safe for home use.

The product, in the report: Electrolux front load washing machine Model number ELFW7537AT2 Serial number 4C41801440
I am reporting an Electrolux front loader washing machine that I have had for about a year. I have black MOLD that is growing on the rubber gasket. I have always wiped it down after each use and left the door open after the cycle to prevent mold but it didnt help. Now that the mold is appearing, I have run the clean washer cycle and it didnt resolve the issue. I have also tried various cleaning products and a lot of scrubbing and that hasnt helped either. I have called Electrolux a few times and they told me that the mold is an aesthetic problem and is only covered under warranty for 30 days.

The product, in the report: Electrolux ELTE7600AT Laundry Tower.
Purchased a new Electrolux Laundry Tower ELTE7600AT. Every time a load is in the dryer on high heat the left side of the dryer gets so hot it can’t be touched. I checked it with a thermal camera and it consistently shows 157 degrees. This is hot enough to cause skin burns. I contacted Electrolux to express my concern. They sent out a tech to check out the unit. He said the unit was operation as designed but agreed with me that having the exterior of a dryer get hot enough to burn someone was not safe. He called Electrolux to discuss with them and was told that this was the first time that this concern was being brought to them and that it was “normal” for the side to get hot. The tech mentioned that previous Electrolux dryers that he had worked on in the past had a black tar like substance on that side of the dryer that insulated the side from getting hot. My unit does not have that so the tech talked to Electrolux to make sure mine wasn’t missing something and was told that is how they are made now. I am afraid a child might get burned or a fire could be caused.

The product, in the report: Electrolux Front Load Washer with LuxCare Wash - 4.4 Cu. Ft. Model: ELFW7337AW Serial Number: 4C33411094 Color is white
Purchased a brand new Electrolux Washing machine, front loader Model #ELFW7337AW. What is NOT disclosed anywhere is that Electrolux impregnates the rubber gasket with a scented antimicrobial. The smell is so strong even after cleaning and using the machine for months, that I have to keep the laundry room door closed at all times. The smell is sickening, causing headaches and trouble breathing.
However, that is not the worst part, I have developed severe skin issues and irritation since getting this washer. I have had to seek urgent medical care from several doctors. I have not used a new detergent, soap, lotion, etc. It is the washer causing me to be seriously sick, as all of my symptoms started AFTER I received the washer.

The problems are the same on both my Electrolux washer and dryer. The washer powers up at random times, often in the middle of the night. The brains continue screwing up until I cycle the breaker and then its usually good for a week. This has been happening for a year or more and I’ve emailed the company about the problems and while they acknowledge the email, they have done nothing more.

The product, in the report: front load washer
The submitter is reporting the unit for posing a laceration hazard.
She set the unit for a normal wash cycle. Once the cycle was done she opened the door and the inner glass shattered. There were pieces of glass inside the unit and around the front of the unit. She said the inner glass shattered and the outer glass is still intact. She said she had undergarments in the washer.
She contacted the firm and reported the matter. She said they were unwilling to provide free repairs but they offered to sell her parts. She ordered the replacement glass and she said it arrived in pieces.
The sensors for the detergent was replaced about 6 months ago. The rubber gasket around the door had mold and it was replaced about 18 months ago.

The product, in the report: Electrolux Front Load washing machine
We purchased an Electrolux front load washing machine about 4 years ago, and the rubber gasket around the opening of the washing machine has developed ‘hidden’ mold inside. I say hidden because it’s not in eyesight when you look inside, it’s between and under the Renee gasket that seal the drum. Not only is it hard to find, it’s VERY difficult to clean and stay mold free! I have been suffering from worsening allergy problems over the past 3 years. I have had an allergy to mold for many years, which I attributed to the Fall due to leaves and damp weather conditions, but my allergies seem to be continually flaring and worsening. I never dreamed it was possible that my washing machine would have this kind of impact since they are ‘designed to clean’ NOT to cloth you in mold spores! I always leave the door open when not in use, and I am constantly cleaning the inside of the washer, rubber molding, and detergent dispenser, and still, the inside of the gasket has developed a terrible mold problem.

The product, in the report: Electrolux Model EFLS617STTO Serial 4C70808240
I purchased an Electrolux EFLS617STTO washer and Dryer from Howard’s In Riverside,CA on 12/1/17. The machine being brand new and the combo costing almost 3,000 dollars has been breaking down non-stop. First the drum on the unit came out and almost caused injury to myself and my family, and there were components that could possibly catch themselves on fire. Howard’s first refused to exchange the unit or refund the money. Both Howard’s and Electrolux fully aware of the defects of the machine, they both refused to refund our money and after much struggle they exchange the unit with the same model and manufacturer. Our replacement was delivered on March 13, 2017 and in less than 10 days the water valve in the washer broke almost causing massive flooding and electrocution. We are now without a washer and dryer, and Electrolux or Howard’s are refusing to refund on the item. They are also unwilling to accept that these units are extremely unsafe and can cause harm to both humans and property.

I purchased a new Electrolux washing machine 4 years ago. The rubber gasket around the inside of the washer has developed mold issue even though I leave the door open while not in use, and wipe the gasket down with a clean cloth after every use. Mold is a very dangerous health issue for me. I have tried bleach and then white vinegar in separate loads to no avail.

The product, in the report: front load washer
I own a front load washer by Electrolux. I can see the mold growing in the seal. I can also smell the stink it creates. I have tried to get rid of it with Clorox and other cleaners. I do the self-clean cycle everytime it tells me to. It has been going on for a long time. Nothing works to get the mold out of the seal. I continually clean the trays i put the soap and other cleaners in but the black mold always grows back.

He has been out 3 times since January 2015 and the dryer is down again. It smelt like the start of a fire a few days ago and now it will not dry. The last trip less than 2 weeks ago, the repair man he said lint was building up on the dryer fan. I asked him how I could of cleaned it out and he said I could not of, but that could cause a fire.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire front loader washer
Yes, I’m trying to contact someone over our front loader frigidaire washer. It is complete mold no matter how much u clean it, what u run through it, leaving the door open etc. I have read where there are law suits but I just want to know if anything is being done or if they have made a statement to at least replace them. Thank u... [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Front end loader washing machine
Dear Electrolux,
4/18/2014
I purchased one of you front end loader washing machines on 12/22/2008; it was replaced under the Pa. lemon law in 3/11/2009. Gerharts Appliances, Frazer Pa. sold it to me. It smelled all the time, the error code went off all the time and the repairman came a lot of times and could not fix it. S# is 4c84501185 The replacement S# 4c90500017 smells all the time also. I was told to leave door open all the time use bleach and vinegar to clean it. Which we do, my lungs are killing me the mold is terrible. When I open door to get the clothes out the smell hits me. I am on drugs because of this, for my lungs. I paid $1099 plus tax and $142.99 for the extended warranty. It just broke down again this time the pump went $300 now it’s out of warranty. I stood there when he opened it up it is all RUSTED OUT already( I am contacting you to see what you are going to do? Wait to hear from you.

Hospital admission Made Feb 2, 2012, sent to the company Mar 1, 2012, published by CPSC Mar 15, 2012
The product, in the report: Electric washing machine
While washing a queen size comforter in the washing machine (door to the machine was open), the victim attempted to push the comforter down with her right hand. The comforter wrapped around the victim’s wrist tightly and she was unable to free herself.
The victim does not recall the setting the appliance was set on or in when the incident occurred. She was stuck with her arm wrapped tightly in the blanket for 7 or more hours and was not able to free herself. The tendons in her wrist were torn. Tendon on thumb was severed.
The victim’s daughter arrived and tried to cut the material of the blanket with scissors to free the victim but was not able to. The fire department and paramedics were contacted (county, city there from unknown) and the victim was taken to ISJ Hospital in Mankato then air lifted to St. Mary’s in Rochester MN.
While in St. Mary’s the victim had surgery on 1/5/12 to attach tendons to the bone. The tendons were completely torn off so the doctors had to take a tendon from the little finger to ring finger then middle finger to pointer finger. Also had surgery on 1/6/12 to attach tendon to thumb and graph the wrist with skin.
On 1/7/2012 the victim had a heart attack .She was later transferred to a rehabilitation center Path Stone in Mankato on 1/17/2012 where she is currently. She may require additional surgeries in the near future.
The firm was contacted on 2/2/2012 and no assistance was offered. The consumer was advised by the representative (name unknown) that they will await for the report from CPSC.
